Oracle Datacenter Services Operations is seeking an experienced professional to lead break/fix and hardware maintenance, network configuration, installation, and augmentation within data center environments. You will mentor technicians, enforce SOP/MOP guidelines, and coordinate across teams to ensure resiliency and availability of critical infrastructure.

Job Description

Identifies opportunities for others to replace or upgrade server components. Validates cabling, checking network environment build and connectivity is established. Monitors and assigns work in ticketing environment, mentoring less experienced technicians or implementing technical solutions. Trains advance fix and repair techniques that align with corporate objectives and adheres to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and method of procedures (MOPs) for operational Data Center Change Control processes. Acts as a technical liaison for technical and non-technical teams, providing subject matter expertise to identify and resolve resiliency, reliability, and availability risks.

Responsibilities

Datacenter Services Operations-Break/Fix and Hardware Maintenance
  • Identifies opportunities for other team members to work with of servers and server components and main hardware to ensure efficient performance for its entire lifecycle.
  • Guides and coaches less experienced technicians on best practices for the power distribution units and/or replacement hardware, removing and troubleshooting hardware without disturbing critical infrastructure, as needed.
Datacenter Services Operations-Network Configuration, Installation, and Augmentation
  • Guides and instructs less experienced technicians on best practices for implementing -designed and defined network communications and solutions, signing off on client configurations within environments.
  • Validates cabling, checking network environment build and connectivity is established, verifying that devices are connected and error free.
Technical Support and Trouble Shooting-Technical Support and Trouble Shooting
  • Monitors and assigns work in ticketing environment, mentoring less experienced technicians or implementing technical solutions to enhance and/or troubleshoot the system within Service Level Agreements (SLAs) against assigned ticket, potentially identifying and escalating trends, and documenting steps or resolutions involved in maintaining the environments.
Safety and Compliance-Safety, Security, Compliance, and Documentation
  • Oversees adherence to all established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) when performing tasks, ensuring all work stays in sync with site rules, colocation vendor rules, and signs-off within a data center and/or customer site environments.
  • Upholds and ensures established security procedures, considering applicable local regulations, conducting functional testing of security.
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety guidelines (including personal protection equipment, site access, or specific data site compliance) during on-site work at customer locations and at office, with limited supervision.
Continuous Improvement
  • Trains advance fix and repair techniques that align with corporate objectives and adheres to SOPs and MOPs for operational Data Center Change Control processes.
  • Identifies repeating problems or trends, escalating issues to senior peers and/or external experts, operations team, and engaging global team about local issues.

  • Leads collaboration efforts with project teams/colocation partners to properly test and validate the installation, operation, and performance of electrical/mechanical systems and coordinate site utility requirements.
  • Acts as a technical liaison for technical and non-technical teams, providing subject matter expertise to identify and resolve resiliency, reliability, and availability risks.
  • Ensures contractors and vendors deliver quality services and that all SLAs are being met.
  • Contributes to quality assurance through process creation and training of less experienced peers.

The incumbent for this position may be based in the United States (US), Germany. As the Research and Impact Acceleration Lead, you are part of the Product Design Capability Center and report to the Head of Product Design. In this role, you define and lead the vision, strategy, and multi‑year plan for accelerating research and impact across the team through improvements in germplasm improvement units. You mobilize the organization to turn speed of learning, evidence quality, and iteration capacity into a durable competitive advantage in how the early part of the breeding pipeline operates, ensuring that innovation translates into faster, higher‑quality product delivery for growers and customers worldwide.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define the vision and multi‑year strategy for research acceleration across the early breeding pipeline, framing where faster learning creates durable competitive advantage and translating this into a prioritized portfolio against the highest‑value constraints in cycle time, genetic gain, decision quality, and product delivery;
  • Establish how the organization formulates and answers research questions by setting standards for hypothesis‑driven design, decision‑ready evidence, and disciplined scale, pivot, or stop decisions so that rapid iteration becomes the default operating rhythm rather than a collection of individual projects;
  • Shape the enabling‑technology agenda across accelerated breeding, genomics, phenotyping, predictive analytics, automation, and digital workflows, directing investment and partnerships toward the capabilities that will differentiate the pipeline;
  • Lead the adoption strategy that institutionalizes proven innovation, governing the standards, workflows, training, and change management required to embed new practices across crops and regions at scale;
  • Own the impact narrative and its metrics by defining how acceleration value is measured and reported on cycle time, genetic gain, cost, quality, and adoption, and using that evidence to steer investment, leadership decisions, and the Long‑Range Plan;
  • Provide technical, strategic, and product knowledge to the Capability Center, strategically contributing to key global Precision Breeding, Breeding, and R&D focus areas;
  • Lead and contribute to Global Breeding strategies and the Long‑Range Plan (LRP), ensuring alignment with high‑level functional and commercial goals;
  • Engage strategically with key universities to coach and guide future talent development, ensuring Bayer is viewed as a strategic talent destination of choice;
  • Serve as a member of various L3 leadership units across commercial and product supply teams, helping connect research acceleration with downstream product and supply decisions;
  • Ensure a strong focus on HS&E, Compliance, DEI, Business Conduct, and Human Rights across the Capability Hub, fostering a culture that emphasizes ethical practices, safety, inclusion, and responsibility.
WHO YOU ARE
Required Qualifications:
  • + PhD degree or MS degree in Plant or Animal Breeding, Quantitative or Statistical Genetics, Data Science, or a related field
  • + Strong knowledge of advanced breeding technologies, advanced analytics and information technologies, genomics, and/or quantitative genetics, with a proven track record of driving innovation into applied pipelines;
  • + Strong ability to collaborate and build cross‑functional partnerships to solve complex business and technical problems across regions and functions;
  • + Demonstrated ability to embrace and role‑model VACC leadership attributes, aligned with Bayer's Values, Ambition, Collaboration, and Creativity expectations, within the Capability Center and with peers and colleagues across Bayer Crop Science.
Preferred Qualifications :
  • - 5+ years of technology leadership experience, or MS degree with 8+ years of technology leadership experience;
  • -Experience leading research acceleration, precision breeding, or early pipeline innovation initiatives in a global R&D environment;
  • -Experience working within large, matrixed organizations and contributing to cross‑functional strategies that span R&D, product design, and commercial teams;
  • -Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive adoption of new ways of working across diverse teams and geographies;
  • -Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific and strategic concepts into clear, decision‑ready insights for leadership and partners.
