Job summary

Political Asylum Lawyers, a Houston-based immigration law firm, seeks a skilled translator to convert client evidence into English for USCIS and EOIR filings. You will produce certified translations and ensure accuracy across legal documents.

You’ll translate client declarations into Spanish (and French if possible), follow PAL’s standards, and manage a steady translation queue in Asana, collaborating with paralegals and attorneys.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in English and Spanish (C2) with excellent writing and formatting.
• At least 2 years of professional translation experience, ideally including legal, official or immigration documents.
• Detail-oriented, deadline-driven and able to manage multiple files with accuracy.
• Reliable internet and availability during U.S. Central Time business hours.
• Familiarity with asylum terminology and with Asana and Google Workspace.
• Experience translating USCIS or EOIR documents is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Translate client evidence into English for USCIS and EOIR filings.
• Prepare certified translations with a certificate of translation that meets USCIS and EOIR requirements.
• Translate client declarations and firm communications from English into Spanish (and French if possible).
• Follow PAL's translation standards across every case.
• Manage a steady queue of translation tasks in Asana, prioritizing by filing deadline.
• Work closely with paralegals, legal assistants, and attorneys.
• Quality-check your own work before delivery to ensure accuracy.
