Job summary

Virtualent is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable systems for a product-led engineering team. You will work with Java and/or Kotlin, Spring Boot, GraphQL, MongoDB, Aurora MySQL on AWS, focusing on robust operations and observability.

You will tackle lower-priority work like compliance, cost-savings, and tooling, while delivering reliable, high-performance services for a fast-growing platform.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Experience with MongoDB (Atlas) and Aurora MySQL on AWS.
• Experience building cloud-native distributed systems on AWS.
• Experience with the Spring Boot framework.
• API development with GraphQL (Netflix DGS).
• Experience operating large-scale, high-performance systems on a major cloud platform.

Responsibilities

• Take on lower-priority engineering work the team lacks bandwidth for, including compliance and engineering maintenance, cost-savings, observability, experiment clean-up, and operational tool development.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable software systems.
