Job summary

Ciena Corporation is seeking a Commercial Manager to drive commercial success across NA and CALA. You will lead deal structuring, governance, and pricing, aligning with finance and Legal to ensure compliant, profitable outcomes.

In this regional role, you’ll respond to RFPs, collaborate with sales, and influence revenue forecasting while maintaining strict adherence to company policies and processes. Remote-friendly with international scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, and contracts.
• Contract negotiation experience in the telecommunications industry.
• Excellent partnership, communication, and presentation skills.
• High attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Partner with internal departments to ensure compliance with contractual terms and governance requirements.
• Interface with accounting and revenue recognition teams for deal construct and revenue forecasting.

Ciena's Blue Planet Software Division is seeking a Commercial Manager to help drive commercial success across NA and CALA regions. This role partners with sales leadership and cross functional teams to facilitate effective deal structuring, governance, negotiation, and closure while aligning commercial activities with business objectives. The position contributes to operational excellence through adherence to company policies, processes, and financial requirements.

How you will make an impact:

• Serve as the regional subject matter expert for Blue Planet policies and standard operational processes.
• Respond to RFPs and supplier questionnaires for new and existing customers.
• Partner with internal departments to ensure compliance with contractual terms and governance requirements.
• Interface with accounting and revenue recognition teams to address deal construct considerations and revenue forecasting requirements.
• Drive profitable pricing strategies and promote accuracy of deal structures to support company financial metrics.
• Collaborate with sales leadership to develop commercial and pricing strategies that facilitate deal closure.
• Review contracts for commercial and financial implications and provide feedback to Legal and senior leadership.

The must haves:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or another applicable major preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of business experience; finance, accounting, and contractual experience strongly preferred.
• Contract negotiation experience and application within the telecommunications industry.
• Excellent business partnership, communication, and presentation skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Utilization of Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Nice to haves:

• Spanish language capability.
• Background in Blue Planet technologies, solutions, products, and strategies.
• Experience adapting to changing business strategies, policies, and processes.
