Library Assistant - Dubai, UAE
We are hiring a Library Assistant for our prestigious library in Dubai, UAE. As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the Librarian in managing the daily operations of the library.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons with finding and checking out books, periodicals, and other materials.
- Organize and shelve books and other materials according to the library's classification system.
- Maintain an orderly and tidy library by re-shelving books and ensuring that all areas are free from clutter.
- Help with processing new materials by stamping, labeling, and covering them.
- Handle circulation tasks such as issuing library cards, renewing books, collecting fines, etc.
- Provide basic reference services to patrons by helping them locate information or materials they need.
- Assist in planning and implementing library programs for children and adults.
- Maintain accurate records of circulation statistics, inventory, and other important data.
- Report any damaged or missing items to the librarian.
- Keep up-to-date with new releases and popular titles to assist patrons with book recommendations.
Requirements:
- Indian national preferred
- Proficient in English (spoken and written)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a library setting is not required but is considered a plus
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) including occasional evenings and weekends
- Must have a valid biometric passport
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
