Job summary

Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai is seeking a Waiter/ess for our Lobby Lounge to deliver exceptional dining experiences. You will serve guests, take orders, and ensure flawless service in a luxury hotel setting.

Based at the hotel, you will support the Food & Beverage team, engage with guests, and upsell drinks and bites while maintaining MOHG standards. Fluency in English is required; Arabic a plus.

Qualifications

• High School qualification is preferred; a degree in Hospitality/Hotel/Business is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a waiter/waitress, preferably in luxury hotels or high‑volume venues.
• Strong verbal and written English communication; Arabic is a plus.
• Knowledge of standard dining service procedures and cashiering/ POS practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of lounge menu and signature drinks; offer suggestions to guests.
• Take food and beverage orders, communicate with kitchen and bar, ensure timely delivery.
• Address dietary needs and guest preferences, informing relevant staff as needed.
• Provide attentive, personalized service; upsell where appropriate to enhance revenue.
• Operate POS system, handle billing, clear and reset tables per standards.
• Create WOW moments and ensure guest satisfaction from arrival to departure.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department in Dubai, as a Waiter/ess in our Lobby Lounge, you play a critical role in providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This includes taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience meets our standards. The Waiter/ess will report to the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences (RB&E) Supervisor.

As a Waiter/ess, you will beresponsiblefor the following duties:

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Lounge menu, including light meals, beverages, and signature drinks. Offer suggestions and answer questions to enhance the guest experience.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, communicate clearly to the kitchen and bar staff, and ensure all orders are delivered promptly and according to guest specifications.
• Address special requests or dietary needs professionally and carefully, ensuring management and kitchen colleagues are informed of guest preferences or allergies.
• Provide attentive and personalized service to guests, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and gracefully. Properly upsell services and products to guests, enhancing service and generating increased revenue.
• Operated the POS system to process food and beverage orders, performed billing tasks according to hotel and cashiering policies, and set up and cleared tables according to restaurant standards.
• Create WOW moments to surprise and delight guests, ensuring customer satisfaction from arrival to departure, following MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQES).

As a Waiter/ess, weexpectfrom you:

• A High School qualification or equivalent is preferred, and a Degree or higher national diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Waiter/ess, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or luxury hotel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with additional languages such as Arabic being a plus.
• Knowledge of acceptable dining service procedures and standards, and familiarity with restaurant point of sales and cashiering procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues, and understanding of the service flow.
• Demonstrates the physical ability to stand for extended periods and the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in accordance with business requirements.
