Job summary

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department, as a Waiter/ess in our Lobby Lounge, you play a critical role in providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. You will take orders, serve food and beverages, and ensure every aspect meets our standards.

The Waiter/ess reports to the RB&E Supervisor and is expected to demonstrate English fluency, a professional presence, and the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays with a guest‑centric

Qualifications

• Minimum high school qualification or equivalent.
• Degree or higher national diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management is advantageous.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of the Lobby Lounge menu and beverages.
• Take accurate orders and relay to kitchen/bar accurately.
• Ensure guest requests and dietary needs are managed professionally.
• Provide attentive, personalized service and upsell where appropriate.
• Operate POS, handle billing, and set tables to standards.
• Create WOW moments following MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQES).

About The Job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department in Dubai, as a Waiter/ess in our Lobby Lounge, you play a critical role in providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This includes taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience meets our standards. The Waiter/ess will report to the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences (RB&E) Supervisor.

As a Waiter/ess, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Lounge menu, including light meals, beverages, and signature drinks. Offer suggestions and answer questions to enhance the guest experience.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, communicate clearly to the kitchen and bar staff, and ensure all orders are delivered promptly and according to guest specifications.
• Address special requests or dietary needs professionally and carefully, ensuring management and kitchen colleagues are informed of guest preferences or allergies.
• Provide attentive and personalized service to guests, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and gracefully. Properly upsell services and products to guests, enhancing service and generating increased revenue.
• Operated the POS system to process food and beverage orders, performed billing tasks according to hotel and cashiering policies, and set up and cleared tables according to restaurant standards.
• Create WOW moments to surprise and delight guests, ensuring customer satisfaction from arrival to departure, following MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQES).

As a Waiter/ess, We Expect From You

• A High School qualification or equivalent is preferred, and a Degree or higher national diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Waiter/ess, preferably in a high‑volume restaurant or luxury hotel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with additional languages such as Arabic being a plus.
• Knowledge of acceptable dining service procedures and standards, and familiarity with restaurant point of sales and cashiering procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues, and understanding of the service flow.
• Demonstrates the physical ability to stand for extended periods and the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in accordance with business requirements.
