Job summary

AECOM is seeking a seasoned Utilities Engineer to supervise the construction of dry utility networks in the UAE. You will oversee HV/LV cables, street lighting, and telecom works, ensuring adherence to drawings, specs, and authority standards, while coordinating with RTA/DEWA/Etisalat/DM for inspections and approvals.

The role requires a civil engineering degree with 7–12 years in utilities, UAE experience in RTA/ DM projects is mandatory, and a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • 7-12 years of experience in Utilities engineering.
  • Masters is preferable but not mandatory.
  • Candidate should have worked in UAE for minimum 3-5 years in RTA or DM projects mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and inspect the construction of dry utility networks including HV/LV cables, street lighting, telecom (Etisalat/Du), ITS, and related infrastructure, verifying compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and authority standards (RTA, DEWA, Etisalat, Du, and DM).
  • Review and verify excavation, duct laying, backfilling, cable pulling, jointing, termination, and chamber installation works in accordance with project specifications and approved method statements.
  • Inspect trench preparation, bedding, and protection layers before and after utility installation, ensuring proper coordination between dry and wet utility networks to avoid clashes.
  • Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and as-built drawings related to dry utilities, and monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements and quality control procedures.
  • Witness and verify inspection requests (WIRs) and ensure all tests such as continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing are properly conducted and documented.
  • Coordinate with local authorities (RTA, DEWA, Etisalat, Du, Civil Defense, and DM) for inspections, NOCs, and approvals; identify and report non-conformances (NCRs) until closure.
  • Maintain inspection records and site documentation, review daily progress reports, and participate in progress and coordination meetings to address technical issues and utility conflicts.
  • Verify trench reinstatement, surface finishing, and utility protection and marking are carried out as per project requirements, and ensure all testing, commissioning, and handover documentation are complete before project closeout.

Education

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
Master's degree in civil engineering (preferred)
