Job summary

AECOM in Abu Dhabi seeks a Traffic Safety Engineer to oversee traffic safety operations on major construction projects, ensuring compliance with Abu Dhabi WZTM and local authority standards to protect road users, workers and the public.

You will develop TTCPs, design safe work zones, supervise site activities, lead safety audits and incident investigations, and coordinate with authorities to secure approvals and align with project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation/Traffic Engineering (Master's degree a plus).
• Professional engineering registration/chartered status preferred (e.g., PE, CEng).

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and approve TTCPs in line with DMT regulations and Abu Dhabi WZTM.
• Plan and design safe work zones with lane closures, detours and pedestrian routes.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor contractor compliance and enforce corrective actions.
• Identify traffic risks, lead incident investigations and develop action plans.
• Coordinate with Abu Dhabi authorities (DMT, police) to secure approvals.
• Deliver training and mentorship on traffic safety best practices.
• Maintain records, prepare weekly/monthly reports and update TTCP documents.
