Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Safety Engineer in Abu Dhabi to oversee safety operations for construction and infrastructure projects. You will ensure compliance with Abu Dhabi WZTM and DMT requirements, design safe work zones, and supervise site activities to protect road users and workers.

You will lead incident investigations, coordinate with authorities, and deliver safety training while maintaining detailed records and reports for project governance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation/Traffic Engineering or related discipline (Master's degree a plus, especially for senior-level candidates)
• Professional engineering registration/chartered status preferred (e.g., PE, CEng, or equivalent recognized by UAE authorities)

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve TTCPs in alignment with DMT regulations and Abu Dhabi WZTM Manual
• Plan and design safe work zones, lane closures, detours, pedestrian routes, and staging for live traffic interfaces
• Conduct site inspections to ensure TTCPs are implemented and contractor compliance is enforced
• Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
• Liaise with Abu Dhabi authorities (DMT, police) to secure approvals and ensure compliance with local regulations
• Deliver training on traffic safety best practices for contractors and site personnel
• Maintain records of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions, and produce weekly/monthly reports
