Job summary

Gulftainer in the United Arab Emirates seeks an experienced supervisor to oversee safe, efficient yard and vessel operations, ensuring readiness before vessel arrivals and proper asset positioning.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in container terminal operations, MACH TOS experience, and solid safety certifications. A driving license and strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with engineering and customers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in container terminal operations.
• Experience with terminal operating systems, preferably MACH.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to safe working practices.
• Driving license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe working practices are followed by staff and third parties.
• Deploy terminal resources efficiently.
• Position quayside assets safely and ready for vessel arrivals.
• Improve vessel/yard efficiency under the duty Vessel Controller.
• Maintain terminal housekeeping and perform maintenance.
• Coordinate with Engineering on equipment servicing.
• Ensure operators are trained whenever possible.
• Communicate effectively at all levels with customers.

Job description

Summary:

Responsible for the safe, efficient and productive operations of all yard and vessel activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensure that safe working practises are being followed by all responsible staff members and third-party terminal users.
• Ensures efficient deployment of terminal resources.
• Ensures operational readiness ahead of vessel arrivals, including the safe positioning of quayside assets.
• Optimises vessel/yard efficiency under the supervision of the duty Vessel Controller.
• Ensures terminal housekeeping and maintenance duties are performed as required.
• Liaises with the Engineering Dept. regarding defective equipment and servicing requirements.
• Ensures operators are training whenever possible.
• Able to effectively communicate at all levels, with customers internal and external.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualification:

Educational Background

Bachelor's Degree/ Diploma or equivalent.

Technical Qualification / Certification

• Safety certificates e.g. first aid/IOSH would be favored
• Driving license

Related Work Experience

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in container terminal operations. Must have prior experience with terminal operating systems, preferably MACH
