Job summary

Pixcom Energy LLC is seeking a Telecom Commissioning Engineer with strong DWDM OTN and IP/MPLS expertise to lead installation, configuration, testing and commissioning of advanced telecom infrastructure in Abu Dhabi. The role covers migration, troubleshooting and acceptance of complex systems, with emphasis on optical performance metrics and cross‑vendor equipment.

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in telecom installation, testing, commissioning, migration or maintenance.
• Proficiency with DWDM/OTN systems (Huawei OptiX OSN 1800/9800 or Nokia PSS 1830 preferred).
• Experience with optical power balancing, wavelength provisioning, OSNR verification, protection switching and optical troubleshooting.
• Hands-on use of OTDR, OSA, optical power meter, light source, attenuator and BER tester.
• Working knowledge of IP/MPLS routers, switches, Ethernet services and network integration.
• Experience in FAT, SAT, service migration, system acceptance, technical reporting and team supervision.
• UAE driving licence is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and commission DWDM OTN equipment and related components.
• Perform wavelength provisioning and optical path verification.
• Measure and verify transmit/receive power, span loss and OSNR.
• Carry out optical fiber testing with OTDR, power meters and related equipment.
• Execute optical link optimization, fault isolation and service restoration.
• Install equipment, rack mounting, patching, grounding and site readiness.
• Conduct migration cutover, configuration backups and post-migration testing.
• Configure alarms and network parameters through the NMS.
• Perform basic IP/MPLS verification including VLANs, routing and redundancy.
• Prepare test procedures, migration records and acceptance documents.
• Supervise technicians and subcontractors; coordinate with OEM engineers when needed.

Job description

Overview

We are looking for a Telecom Commissioning Engineer specializing in DWDM OTN and IP MPLS, responsible for installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, migration, troubleshooting, and acceptance of telecom infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test and commission DWDM OTN equipment including transponders, muxponders, amplifiers, multiplex‑demultiplex units, protection modules and optical supervisory channels.
• Perform wavelength provisioning, channel assignment, optical power balancing and end‑to‑end optical path verification.
• Measure and validate transmit power, receive power, span loss, insertion loss, OSNR, attenuation and optical link margins.
• Carry out optical fiber testing using OTDR, optical power meter, light source, OSA, optical attenuator and related test equipment.
• Execute optical link optimization, fault isolation, loopback testing, BER testing, protection switching, redundancy testing and service restoration.
• Perform equipment installation, rack mounting, fiber patching, cabling, grounding, DC power connection, labeling and site readiness verification.
• Conduct service migration cutover, configuration backup, rollback and post‑migration testing.
• Configure and verify alarms, performance parameters, equipment status and network connectivity through applicable NMS.
• Perform basic IP MPLS verification covering Ethernet interfaces, VLANs, IP connectivity, routing, MPLS services, alarms, logs and redundancy.
• Prepare test procedures, commissioning reports, migration records, configuration details, red‑line drawings and acceptance documents.
• Supervise technicians and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project quality and HSE requirements.
• Coordinate with OEM engineers for specialized technical activities when required.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant DWDM/OTN or optical network certification.

Note: This role requires strong practical experience in active DWDM/OTN systems. Candidates with experience limited only to fiber installation, structured cabling, RF or microwave systems will not be considered.
