Role Context
The Technical Project Manager – Banking IT will oversee the complete delivery lifecycle of complex technology programs within a regulated banking environment. The role requires strong command of project governance, delivery planning, vendor coordination, risk tracking, dependency management, release readiness, stakeholder communication, and cross‑region alignment. The project manager will ensure that business‑critical technology initiatives move from analysis and design through development, testing, deployment, go‑live, and post‑implementation support with clear controls and measurable delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of complex technology programs across banking systems, digital platforms, infrastructure, data, security, and enterprise IT environments.
- Manage internal IT teams, external vendors, implementation partners, business stakeholders, and cross‑functional delivery groups.
- Define project scope, delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, governance forums, reporting cadence, and success criteria.
- Drive solution delivery across multiple environments including development, testing, UAT, pre‑production, production, and post‑go‑live support.
- Coordinate technology releases, deployment planning, cutover activities, go‑live readiness, and hypercare support.
- Maintain strong project governance by tracking risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, change requests, decisions, and delivery escalations.
- Ensure technology programs comply with internal banking controls, regulatory expectations, audit requirements, security standards, and operational risk policies.
- Align stakeholders across regions, departments, vendors, and business functions to maintain delivery momentum and decision clarity.
- Work with architects, developers, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity teams, QA teams, DevOps teams, operations, and business owners to remove blockers.
- Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, vendor performance, delivery timelines, and quality of outputs.
- Facilitate steering committee updates, working group meetings, status reviews, executive reporting, and delivery governance discussions.
- Track testing progress, defect resolution, release acceptance, business sign‑offs, and production readiness activities.
- Ensure proper documentation is maintained, including project plans, RAID logs, delivery reports, cutover plans, implementation records, and closure documents.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying delivery gaps, process inefficiencies, and governance improvements for future technology programs.
- Provide leadership during critical delivery phases, major escalations, incident‑sensitive releases, and high‑impact implementation windows.
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 12 years of experience in technology project management, IT program delivery, technical delivery management, or related roles.
- Strong experience delivering complex technology programs in banking, financial services, fintech, or regulated enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to manage multi‑vendor and internal IT delivery teams across multiple workstreams.
- Strong understanding of banking technology environments, production support expectations, regulatory controls, and go‑live governance.
- Experience managing projects across development, SIT, UAT, pre‑production, production deployment and post‑go‑live stabilization.
- Good knowledge of project governance frameworks, RAID management, change control, release planning, and executive reporting.
- Ability to coordinate with senior stakeholders across business, technology, operations, risk, compliance, security and vendor teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall and hybrid delivery models.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, SharePoint or similar project delivery platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage complex dependencies and delivery risks.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management and escalation handling skills.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, high‑pressure banking environments with strict deadlines and delivery controls.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, CSM, SAFe, ITIL or equivalent will be an advantage.
- Structured, proactive, and outcome‑focused mindset with strong ownership of delivery commitments.
