Job description

Position

Teacher – Primary French (Full‑time) – Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Primary‑Secondary Education, British curriculum international school.

Salary

Estimated salary range: 9,000–14,000 AED per month.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver creative and well‑planned French lessons for primary students in line with curriculum expectations.
• Build students' confidence in speaking, listening, reading, writing, pronunciation, vocabulary, and basic French communication.
• Use engaging teaching methods, songs, stories, role play, classroom activities, visual resources, and digital tools to support young language learners.
• Plan differentiated lessons that meet the needs of students with different abilities, learning styles, and levels of language exposure.
• Create a positive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to participate, practise French, and enjoy language learning.
• Assess, record, and report student progress using clear evidence of learning and age‑appropriate assessment methods.
• Provide timely support, feedback, and guidance to help students improve fluency, accuracy, confidence, and classroom participation.
• Work closely with class teachers, phase leaders, department teams, parents, and school leadership to support student achievement.
• Contribute to wider school life through extra‑cultural activities, community events, cultural celebrations, and language‑related initiatives.
• Promote kindness, inclusion, collaboration, respect, curiosity, and enthusiasm throughout classroom and school activities.
• Maintain accurate planning, assessment records, teaching resources, and communication in line with school expectations.
• Follow GEMS Education policies, safeguarding requirements, school procedures, and professional standards at all times.
• Support the school's mission to provide accessible, high‑quality British education in a diverse and inclusive Dubai community.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor of Education or Bachelor's degree with PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• French qualification or strong academic background in French language teaching is preferred.
• Proven experience teaching French to primary students.
• Experience in a British curriculum or international school environment is an advantage.
• Strong classroom practice with the ability to deliver engaging and effective learning experiences.
• Creative, enthusiastic, and reflective teaching style with a passion for continuous improvement.
• Ability to inspire young learners and make French language learning enjoyable, structured, and meaningful.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
• Strong classroom management skills with an inclusive and child‑centred approach.
• Willingness to contribute to extra‑cultural programmes, school events, and community‑based initiatives.
• Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and professional conduct.
• A UK‑enhanced DBS or equivalent police clearance is required for appointment.
