Job summary

GEMS Metropole School AlWaha in Dubai is seeking a qualified Primary Teacher to lead Key Stage learning. You will plan engaging lessons, deliver the British-international curriculum, and foster curiosity, confidence and kindness among students.

The role requires experience in primary education, strong planning and assessment skills, and the ability to differentiate for diverse learners. You will collaborate with colleagues, support student wellbeing, and contribute to a vibrant school community

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching qualification with PGCE/PGDE.
  • Proven primary school teaching experience.
  • Experience with British curriculum or international school is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality primary lessons aligned with the approved curriculum and school expectations.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson sequences, learning objectives, resources and assessment activities.
  • Teach core and foundation subjects through engaging, age-appropriate, well-structured learning experiences.
  • Differentiate instruction for varied attainment levels and language backgrounds.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to evaluate understanding and monitor progress.
  • Prepare reports and communicate student development clearly to parents and school leaders.

Primary Teacher – Key Stage Learning

Start Date: August2026 – GEMS Metropole School AlWaha, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Full‑time position. Salary: AED12,000‑19,000 per month (tax‑free).

Overview

This role is for a qualified educator with proven primary‑school teaching experience who can deliver engaging, inclusive, and inquiry‑based learning. The teacher will plan purposeful lessons, support strong academic progress, and foster curiosity, confidence, creativity, respect, and kindness among students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high‑quality primary lessons aligned with the approved curriculum and school expectations.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson sequences, learning objectives, resources and assessment activities.
  • Teach core and foundation subjects through engaging, age‑appropriate, well‑structured learning experiences.
  • Build students’ literacy, numeracy, communication, critical‑thinking, creativity and independent learning skills.
  • Use inquiry, investigation, practical activities, discussion, technology and outdoor learning to deepen understanding.
  • Differentiate instruction for students with varied attainment levels, learning profiles and language backgrounds.
  • Provide targeted support for students requiring additional assistance and suitable extension for high‑achieving learners.
  • Establish clear classroom routines and positive expectations for behaviour, participation, organisation and respect.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, valued and confident contributing.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to evaluate understanding and monitor progress.
  • Mark student work accurately and provide constructive feedback that supports improvement.
  • Analyse assessment information to identify learning gaps and adjust future teaching.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, attainment, progress, intervention and student support.
  • Prepare reports and communicate student development clearly to parents and school leaders.
  • Set ambitious and realistic targets for individual students and teaching groups.
  • Collaborate with year‑group and subject colleagues on curriculum planning, moderation, resources and shared expectations.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and inclusion teams to support individual learning requirements.
  • Build strong professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the wider school community.
  • Participate in parent meetings, school events, professional development and improvement initiatives.
  • Integrate sustainability, nature, creativity and responsible citizenship into learning where appropriate.
  • Make effective use of the school’s forest, farm, environmental resources, performing arts facilities and sporting spaces.
  • Support pastoral care and promote student wellbeing, resilience, confidence and positive relationships.
  • Contribute to extracurricular clubs, enrichment activities, trips and community‑based events.
  • Model the school values of curiosity, confidence, creativity, respect and kindness.
  • Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and school compliance procedures.
  • Reflect on teaching practice and pursue continuous professional improvement.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor of Education degree or a relevant bachelor’s degree with PGCE, PGDE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching in a primary school.
  • Strong understanding of primary curriculum planning, classroom instruction, assessment and student development.
  • Demonstrated record of delivering high‑quality learning and improving student outcomes.
  • Ability to share exemplary teaching practices and contribute to team development.
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach inside and outside the classroom.
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
  • Experience differentiating teaching for students with varied learning needs.
  • Ability to use assessment evidence and progress data to improve teaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with students, parents, colleagues and school leaders.
  • Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, student wellbeing and positive behaviour.
