Overview

Sustainability Manager - ESG Strategy in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a corporate Retail management role focused on sustainability workstreams, ESG reporting, stakeholder engagement, ESG risk ratings, sustainability awards, communications, wellbeing initiatives, and governance support for Majid Al Futtaim Holding. The role is suited for an Emirati sustainability professional with strong project ownership, reporting capability, stakeholder coordination skills, and practical exposure to ESG frameworks and corporate sustainability programmes.

Role Context: The Sustainability Manager will support group-wide sustainability priorities by managing multiple workstreams across ESG engagements, reporting inputs, communications, awards, risk ratings, events, campaigns, training activities, and documentation controls. This role requires strong execution discipline, quality assurance, stakeholder management, and the ability to guide junior team members while ensuring sustainability initiatives are delivered on time and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage sustainability workstreams across stakeholder engagement, ESG communications, ESG risk ratings, awards, certifications, wellbeing initiatives, and annual reporting support.
• Lead and coordinate internal and external sustainability events, campaigns, trainings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Oversee ESG risk ratings processes, including data collection, evidence tracking, documentation management, submission preparation, and timely completion of required updates.
• Drive sustainability awards, certifications, rankings, and external recognition submissions from planning through evidence collection, review, approval, and final submission.
• Coordinate inputs for the Annual Sustainability Report by gathering data, tracking deadlines, managing review cycles, and ensuring timely closure of comments.
• Work with internal teams to validate sustainability data, improve reporting accuracy, and maintain quality control across submitted materials.
• Line-manage junior team members by allocating tasks, setting priorities, monitoring progress, providing coaching, and supporting performance development.
• Ensure strong governance, organized documentation, version control, audit readiness, quality assurance, and proactive escalation of risks across all sustainability workstreams.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, business units, external consultants, agencies, and partners to deliver sustainability strategy priorities.
• Prepare reports, presentations, briefing notes, campaign materials, stakeholder updates, and management summaries related to sustainability performance and initiatives.
• Monitor sustainability trends, ESG reporting requirements, stakeholder expectations, and external recognition opportunities relevant to the Group.
• Support wellbeing and engagement initiatives that contribute to employee awareness, responsible business practices, and sustainability culture.
• Track project timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and risks to ensure multiple sustainability priorities are completed effectively.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in sustainability processes, reporting workflows, stakeholder coordination, and ESG documentation standards.

Ideal Profile

• Emirati talent with strong interest in sustainability, ESG, corporate responsibility, responsible business, and stakeholder engagement.
• Academic background in sustainability, environmental science, business, corporate responsibility, communications, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, corporate responsibility, environmental management, reporting, or related role within a corporate or consultancy environment.
• Proven experience managing sustainability workstreams, ESG projects, stakeholder engagement activities, or junior team members.
• Exposure to ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, ESG risk ratings, awards submissions, certifications, stakeholder engagement, and evidence management.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities, deadlines, workstreams, and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing reports, presentations, submissions, and stakeholder materials.
• Strong organization, documentation, quality control, and follow-up skills.
• Ability to coordinate confidently with internal teams, external partners, consultants, and senior stakeholders.
• Proactive and accountable working style with strong delivery ownership and practical problem-solving ability.
• Certifications such as LEED, GRI, or other sustainability-related credentials are an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain governance standards and escalate risks in a timely manner.
