Job summary

GEMS Education in Dubai is seeking a Behavioural Support Lead for Student Wellbeing. This role focuses on supporting students' emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and pastoral development while collaborating closely with Heads of Year and school leadership.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in behavioural support or counselling and will contribute to creating a safe, supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in behavioural support, counselling or student pastoral care.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with empathy and emotional intelligence.
• Ability to build strong relationships with students and gain their trust.
• Strong understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and student wellbeing responsibilities.
• Knowledge of counselling theories, behavioural support techniques and emotional development practices.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and school staff.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Calm, solution-focused, supportive professional approach.
• Commitment to student welfare and continuous school improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support Heads of Year with pastoral care and behaviour management issues.
• Provide high-quality support for students facing emotional, behavioural or social challenges.
• Promote student wellbeing through consistent safeguarding and pastoral intervention.
• Help students develop positive behaviour, self-discipline and emotional resilience.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage open communication.
• Assist in managing behavioural incidents and implementing appropriate intervention strategies.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and school leadership to support student progress.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with professionalism.
• Contribute to safeguarding procedures and ensure school wellbeing policies are followed.
• Support the school’s vision of developing responsible, ethical, and globally aware future adults.
