Job summary

GHD in the UAE is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Construction Management team. You will review designs, coordinate BIM and drawings, and mentor BIM technicians while ensuring QA/QC on projects from design through completion.

The role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, maritime experience, and proficiency with ETABS, SAFE, Robot, STAAD Pro, Prokon, AutoCAD and Revit. Knowledge of UAE design standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Maritime structural experience.
• Experience designing buildings in steel, concrete and masonry.
• Familiar with UAE Authority design requirements.
• Experience delivering projects from design to completion.
• Proficient with structural software: ETABS, SAFE, Robot, STAAD Pro, Prokon.
• AutoCAD and Revit proficiency; able to coordinate in Revit.
• Ability to inspect structures and report defects.

With an expanding portfolio in the UAE GHD have created an exciting opportunity for a talented Structural Engineer to join our Construction Management Team.

Key roles and responsibilities:

• Good communication skills are a must.
• A sound knowledge of Engineering Principles and ability to design using all common building materials.
• Report writing and documentation skills.
• Processing construction documentation such as responding to RFIs and commenting on engineering submittals.
• Review engineering designs and provide input on their suitability. Advise on changes if required during the engineering phase.
• Contribute to designs produced by GHD to ensure the contractor has a wellcoordinated set of drawings.
• Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures are followed during project .
• Proactively collaborate with other members of the team to deliver innovative and balanced best value solutions that meet the Clients requirements.
• Assist Project Managers in monitoring and driving progress.
• Manage BIM technicians and mentoring graduate engineers.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Bachelors degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Maritime structural experience.
• Experienced in the design and specification of building structures in steel concrete and masonry to American and British Standards.
• Be familiar with the local UAE Authority design requirements.
• Have proven experience of delivering projects from design through completion in a multidisciplinary and/or multioffice project environment.
• Experienced user of structural engineering software including CSi ETABS SAFE Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis STAAD Prokon in addition to inhouse spreadsheets.
• A solid background knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software with ability to carry out coordination and reviews through Revit.
• Can undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects and provide guidance for remedial repairs.
