Job summary

Egis is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer - Site in Abu Dhabi to oversee on-site structural and civil activities for major building projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, review drawings, ensure safety, quality, and adherence to codes, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires 12+ years of relevant experience, strong knowledge of international codes, and hands-on construction execution on large-scale developments in the UAE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
• 12+ years in civil/structural engineering, with 5+ years in senior site supervision on large projects
• Strong experience in design review, analysis, and on-site execution
• Proven ability to manage complex projects including high-rise or infrastructure developments
• In-depth knowledge of international codes (ACI, BS, Eurocodes) and UAE approvals across the UAE
• Experience reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, method statements, and coordinating with MEP/architectural teams
• Proficiency in structural analysis software and BIM tools (STAAD Pro, SAP2000, AutoCAD, Revit/Navisworks)
• Knowledge of construction methodologies, temporary works, and site safety compliance
• Leadership skills to mentor teams and coordinate with clients, PMC, contractors, and authorities
• Willingness to work on-site full-time in UAE

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site structural and civil activities, ensuring compliance with designs and codes

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer - Site with minimum 12 years experience to join our team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this pivotal role, you will oversee structural engineering operations on-site for Building Project, ensuring the highest standards of design integrity, safety, and quality throughout project execution. You will serve as a technical leader, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders while managing complex structural challenges in a dynamic construction environment.

• Supervise and manage all structural and civil engineering activities on-site, ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications, and applicable codes and standards
• Conduct detailed structural inspections, quality audits, and testing to verify workmanship and material compliance
• Identify and analyze structural issues, implementing effective corrective measures to maintain project quality and schedule
• Prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports, documentation, and daily site records related to progress and findings
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and clients to resolve design queries and site-related challenges
• Review and approve structural drawings, shop drawings, and construction methodologies prior to implementation
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements through regular site monitoring and audits
• Manage structural testing programs, including material testing, load testing, and non‑destructive testing activities
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and site teams, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Maintain organized project records, databases, and documentation using BIM and project management systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
• Minimum 12+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior site supervision role on large-scale building or infrastructure projects
• Strong experience in structural design review, analysis, and site execution, with hands‑on involvement during construction stages through to completion
• Proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects including high‑rise, commercial, mixed‑use, or infrastructure developments
• In‑depth knowledge of international codes (ACI, BS, Eurocodes) and local authority regulations and approval processes across the UAE
• Solid experience in reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, method statements, WIRs, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including MEP, architectural, and façade
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000 or equivalent, along with strong AutoCAD and BIM (Revit/Navisworks) capabilities
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, temporary works, and structural safety and compliance
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and coordinate engineering teams and interface effectively with Client, PMC, Contractor, and relevant Authorities
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills with high attention to detail
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong report writing and stakeholder management capability
• Familiarity with project management tools and software (MS Office, Primavera, etc.)
• Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and LEED is an advantage
• Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer certification preferred; PMP certification is an added advantage
• Previous experience in the UAE or Middle East is highly preferred
• Willingness to work full‑time on-site and adapt to project requirements and schedules
