Job summary

Backbase is seeking a Technical Director to serve as the technology leader for strategic client accounts, owning the technical success and quality of solution delivery. You will set engineering standards, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with executives to shape outcomes.

You will guide engineering leaders, engage in high-stakes conversations with CIOs, and be hands-on when needed to unblock critical issues, assuring scalable, reliable deployments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall experience with 5+ years in management and a strong technical background in software and systems architecture.
• Experience delivering enterprise-grade software, preferably in regulated industries.
• Hands-on experience with modern tech stack including Java, Spring, Maven/Gradle, Angular, Kotlin, cloud deployments, Docker, Kubernetes (on-prem/cloud) and Swift.
• Cloud certification (e.g., Azure Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus.
• Strong DevOps, CI/CD, Observability, and SRE practices with a focus on operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Take full technical ownership of client accounts as the technology leader across all workstreams.
• Oversee technical success from pre-sales through implementation, production readiness and post go-live evolution.
• Define and drive clients’ technical strategy using your product and technical expertise.
• Represent the client voice inside Backbase and align requirements with the R&D roadmap.
• Lead Architecture Review Boards and partner with Delivery leaders to balance time-to-market and quality.
• Ensure technical quality and enable engineering teams to deliver at scale.
• Be the technical face of Backbase to CIOs and senior stakeholders.
