Job summary

Waagner Biro Bridge Services in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, seeks a detail-oriented Steel Structure Engineer to design, analyse, and oversee steel structural systems for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and project managers to deliver high-quality solutions meeting international codes and local regulations.

Qualifications

Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, or equivalent.
Advanced CAD skills with AutoCAD and Tekla Structures.
Strong knowledge of steel design codes including IBC, Eurocode, and UAE regulations.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in steel structure design and project execution.
Demonstrated expertise in BIM modelling and coordination.
Solid understanding of steel fabrication processes and construction methodologies.
Experience with quality control and site supervision of steel structural projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
Proficiency in technical report writing and documentation.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent certification preferred.
Familiarity with UAE construction standards and local project requirements (preferred).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy.

Responsibilities

Design and analyse steel structures using advanced CAD and structural analysis software, ensuring compliance with international building codes and UAE construction standards.
Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications for steel fabrication and construction.
Conduct site inspections and supervise steel structure installation to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to project specifications.
Perform structural assessments and provide technical recommendations for modifications or improvements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, civil engineers, and contractors to optimise design solutions.
Review and approve shop drawings and fabrication plans submitted by steel contractors.
Maintain organised project documentation and ensure all structural designs are properly archived and accessible.
Identify and resolve structural challenges through analytical problem-solving and innovative engineering solutions.
Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise to support project timelines and budgets.
