Job summary

ecoATM seeks a senior Database Engineer/Architect in the UAE to design scalable, highly available database architectures for transactional and analytical workloads. You will own reliability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning across PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, and SQL Server environments.

You will lead architecture discussions, mentor engineers, implement automation for deployment and provisioning, ensure data governance and security, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering or data architecture.
• Deep expertise with relational database systems: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, or SQL Server.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and performance tuning.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve scalable, highly available database architectures for transactional and analytical systems
• Diagnose complex database performance issues involving schema design, indexing, and query optimization
• Own the reliability, scalability, and disaster recovery strategies for database systems
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security standards, and access control policies
• Lead architectural discussions, design reviews, and mentor engineers across the organization
• Develop automation for deployment, maintenance, and provisioning workflows

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering or data architecture
• Deep expertise with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora, or SQL Server
• Strong proficiency in SQL and performance tuning
• Proven experience scaling high-throughput, mission-critical production systems
• Extensive experience with backup/recovery, HA/replication, and disaster recovery
• Strong scripting and automation experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed databases or cloud-native platforms like AWS RDS, DynamoDB, BigQuery, or Snowflake
• Familiarity with microservices architectures and event-driven systems
• Background in data modeling, data governance, or enterprise architecture
• Prior leadership in large-scale migrations or modernization initiatives
