Job summary

Good co India is seeking a senior Database Engineering leader to guide a cross-functional team in designing scalable database architectures across on-premises and cloud platforms. You will drive migrations, modernization, and automation while enforcing HA/DR standards and governance.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Cloud, DevOps and Enterprise Architecture teams, and own performance, cost, and security KPIs. Strong leadership and cloud DB expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related field.
• 5–10 years in database engineering, DBA, cloud DB, or architecture roles with leadership experience.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or similar DB tech.
• Extensive experience with AWS, Azure, GCP and cloud-native DB services.
• Proven track record in architecture, migration, HA/DR, performance tuning and scalability.

Responsibilities

Role & responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Database Engineering team, providing technical direction, mentoring, and performance management.
• Own database platform strategy across SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud databases.
• Design scalable, secure, highly available database architectures across AWS, Azure, GCP, and hybrid environments.

• Manage production incidents, technical escalations, risks, vendors, and engineering priorities.
• Hire, mentor, and develop database engineers while driving engineering best practices and continuous improvement.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in database engineering, DBA, cloud database, or database architecture roles, including leadership experience.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar database technologies.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, and cloud-native database services.
• Proven experience in database architecture, migration, modernization, HA/DR, performance tuning, and scalability.
• Strong knowledge of Always On, Data Guard, replication, backup/recovery, RPO/RTO, and disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python/PowerShell, CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, and Database DevOps.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, database security, IAM/RBAC, monitoring, and observability.
• Experience with automation, cloud cost optimization, capacity planning, governance, and compliance.
• Strong people management, technical leadership, stakeholder management, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
• AWS/Azure/GCP, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Terraform certifications are an advantage.
