Job summary

Tanqeeb in Abu Dhabi invites a Specialist Psychiatrist to join our medical team. You will conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose a wide range of adult psychiatric conditions, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.

The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary mental-healthcare team in a modern clinical setting; English preferred with Arabic beneficial.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from a recognized medical institution.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry.
• Eligible for DoH Abu Dhabi Specialist Psychiatry licensing.
• Valid or eligible DoH Abu Dhabi professional licence.
• Relevant post-specialization clinical experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, where required.
• Good standing with the relevant medical licensing authority.
• Strong command of Arabic.
• English language skills are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including clinical history and mental status examinations.
• Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric conditions including depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, and trauma-related disorders.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and current evidence-based practice.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications appropriately.
• Monitor treatment response, side effects, medication adherence, and clinical progress.
• Provide psychotherapy or supportive psychological interventions where trained and within scope of practice.
• Assess patients for suicide risk, self-harm, aggression, and other emergencies, initiating appropriate management.
• Maintain accurate, confidential medical records.
• Coordinate care with psychologists, neurologists, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Specialist Psychiatrist to join our medical team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for adult patients presenting with a wide range of mental health conditions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, sound professional judgment, and a patient-centred approach to mental healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including clinical history and mental status examinations.
• Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric conditions, including:
• Depression and anxiety disorders
• Bipolar disorder
• Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder
• Trauma-related disorders and PTSD
• Personality disorders
• Sleep-related psychiatric conditions
• ADHD and other neuropsychiatric conditions where within scope of practice
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment and current evidence-based practice.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications appropriately.
• Monitor treatment response, side effects, medication adherence, and clinical progress.
• Provide psychotherapy or supportive psychological interventions where appropriately trained and within scope of practice.
• Assess patients for suicide risk, self-harm, aggression, and other psychiatric emergencies, and initiate appropriate management.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and comprehensive medical records.
• Coordinate care with psychologists, neurologists, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals where required.
• Provide appropriate referrals and multidisciplinary care when clinically indicated.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, medication, and relapse prevention.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, infection control, patient safety, and continuing professional development activities.
• Comply with all applicable Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi regulations, facility policies, clinical guidelines, and professional standards.
