The Specialist OBGYN will provide continuous women 's healthcare across pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, gynecological treatment, and reproductive health. The position combines outpatient consultations, maternity care, surgical procedures, diagnostic assessment, patient counselling, and multidisciplinary coordination. Fluency in Arabic is central to the role, enabling clear communication with patients and families while supporting informed decisions, cultural sensitivity, treatment adherence, and a reassuring care experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive obstetric and gynecological consultations for new and returning patients.
- Assess women during preconception, antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal stages.
- Manage routine pregnancies and monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing throughout gestation.
- Identify pregnancies requiring closer surveillance because of maternal, fetal, or obstetric risk factors.
- Develop individualized management plans for high-risk pregnancies within specialist scope.
- Review maternal symptoms, laboratory findings, ultrasound results, and fetal assessments.
- Recognize pregnancy complications and arrange timely escalation or consultant-level input when required.
- Monitor fetal growth and pregnancy progression according to established clinical protocols.
- Counsel patients regarding nutrition, medications, activity, warning symptoms, and pregnancy-related lifestyle considerations.
- Participate in labor management and assess progress throughout childbirth.
- Provide appropriate clinical management during uncomplicated and complicated deliveries.
- Perform cesarean sections according to clinical indications and approved privileges.
- Recognize obstetric emergencies and coordinate rapid multidisciplinary intervention.
- Provide immediate post-delivery assessment and ongoing postpartum care.
- Monitor recovery after vaginal and operative deliveries.
- Assess postpartum bleeding, infection, pain, wound complications, and other maternal concerns.
- Provide postnatal counselling regarding recovery, contraception, breastfeeding support pathways, and future pregnancy planning.
- Diagnose and manage common gynecological conditions.
- Evaluate menstrual irregularities, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, and reproductive health complaints.
- Investigate suspected hormonal and gynecological disorders using appropriate laboratory and imaging studies.
- Perform pelvic examinations and other clinically indicated assessments.
- Conduct colposcopy for appropriate cervical abnormalities.
- Perform D and C procedures when medically indicated.
- Undertake hysterectomy within approved clinical privileges and surgical experience.
- Perform laparoscopic gynecological procedures for suitable conditions.
- Apply minimally invasive surgical approaches where clinically appropriate.
- Provide preoperative evaluation for patients requiring gynecological surgery.
- Review medical history, investigations, imaging, and anesthetic considerations before procedures.
- Discuss surgical indications, alternatives, risks, expected recovery, and potential complications with patients.
- Obtain informed consent in accordance with UAE healthcare requirements.
- Monitor postoperative recovery and identify complications requiring intervention.
- Coordinate pain management, wound care, mobilization, and follow-up following surgery.
- Evaluate patients presenting with fertility concerns.
- Conduct appropriate initial fertility investigations and assessments.
- Perform fertility-related interventions within approved scope and training.
- Coordinate complex reproductive cases with fertility and reproductive medicine specialists.
- Provide contraception counselling tailored to individual clinical and reproductive needs.
- Support preventive women 's health through appropriate screening and education.
- Educate patients regarding cervical health, reproductive wellbeing, and age-appropriate preventive care.
- Communicate diagnoses and treatment plans clearly in Arabic when caring for Arabic-speaking patients.
- Provide culturally sensitive explanations to patients and families regarding pregnancy, surgery, reproductive health, and recovery.
- Ensure patients understand medication instructions, follow-up requirements, and warning signs.
- Collaborate closely with midwives throughout antenatal, labor, and postnatal care.
- Work with neonatologists when pregnancies involve anticipated neonatal complications.
- Coordinate with anesthesiologists during cesarean sections and gynecological procedures.
- Collaborate with radiology, laboratory, fertility, and other specialist services as required.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions for complex maternity and gynecological cases.
- Maintain accurate antenatal, delivery, operative, and outpatient records.
- Document clinical findings, treatment decisions, consent, procedures, and follow-up plans clearly.
- Follow DHA requirements, institutional policies, clinical protocols, and professional standards.
- Maintain infection prevention and surgical safety requirements.
- Participate in departmental clinical audits.
- Contribute to maternal safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Review clinical outcomes and support improvements in women 's health pathways.
- Participate in morbidity and clinical case reviews where required.
- Attend continuing medical education activities and departmental teaching sessions.
- Maintain current knowledge of advances in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive medicine, and minimally invasive surgery.
Ideal Profile
- MBBS or equivalent recognized medical qualification.
- Specialist qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Arab Board, MRCOG, or another recognized equivalent qualification is acceptable according to licensing requirements.
- Appropriate DHA Specialist license, eligibility, or ability to obtain the required professional license.
- Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience.
- Previous experience in a hospital, maternity center, or established women 's health clinic.
- Fluency in spoken and written Arabic is required.
- Strong working proficiency in English.
- Proven experience managing routine pregnancies.
- Demonstrated competence in high-risk obstetric assessment and management.
- Strong experience providing antenatal and postnatal care.
- Clinical capability in labor and delivery management.
- Independent experience performing cesarean sections.
- Strong gynecological surgical skills.
