Job summary

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) seeks an ESG professional to support development, implementation and monitoring of sustainability initiatives aligned with international standards and ADNOC Group objectives.

The role focuses on integrating environmental, social and governance considerations across operations, stakeholder engagement, and transparent disclosures in line with GRI, SASB, TCFD, and related standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 8 years of ESG experience in a large organization within the gas processing or energy industry is ideal.
• In-depth knowledge of global, regional and local ESG/Sustainability standards (GRI, SASB, TCFD, ISSB, GHG Protocol).
• Familiarity with ESG rating methodologies (MSCI, Sustainalytics).
• Experience leading materiality assessments and ESG reporting.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE

To support the development, implementation, and monitoring of ADNOC Gas’s ESG strategy and initiatives. The role ensures alignment with international sustainability standards and ADNOC Group’s corporate objectives, contributing to integrating environmental, social, and governance considerations within our operations, responsible business practices and stakeholder engagement.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assist in the design and rollout of ESG frameworks, policies, and performance metrics.
• Monitor ESG compliance across business units and support internal audits and reporting.
• Conduct ESG risk assessments and contribute to mitigation planning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ESG into operational and strategic decision-making.
• Prepare ESG disclosures and reports in line with GRI, SASB, and ADNOC standards and the latest sustainability disclosure standards and best practices.
• Support stakeholder engagement activities, including community outreach and advocacy.
• Track global ESG trends, industry trends, regulations, emerging technologies related to sustainability and recommend improvements to ADNOC Gas’s sustainability practices.
• Plan and conduct materiality assessment exercise, peer benchmarking and stakeholder engagement
• Implement company's ESG strategy, monitor and report on agreed performance indicators
• Develop and implement ESG guidelines, checklists, policies, procedures, and other related programs to promote sustainable practices and mitigate negative impacts
• Engage with external assurance of the annual sustainability report
• Engage in ESG rating performance assessment and assist to implement improvement action plan based on gap analysis result
• Design and implement capacity building and awareness programs to employees on ESG topics to foster a culture of sustainability mindset throughout the organization.
• Report on ESG performance indicators, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, waste management, and community engagement.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and local communities, to build relationships and communicate the company's ESG efforts.
• Assist in investor and ESG related activities, as required, including preparing presentations, organising conferences, roadshows, industry events, media engagements and etc relevant to ESG

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Engineering, or a related field
• A master's degree is preferred.
• 8 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, preferably in a large organization within the gas processing or energy industry, including at least
• In depth knowledge of the global, regional and local ESG/Sustainability and Decarbonization standards for example but not limited to GRI, SASB, TCFD, ISSB, GHG Protocol etc.
• Familiarity with ESG rating methodologies and frameworks (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics)
• Strong understanding of materiality concepts and experience in conducting materiality assessments.
• Knowledge of company’s business and operations, and ability to lead the delivery of tailored solutions in line with specific business requirements.
• Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and reporting requirements such as EHS, etc.
• Sound understanding of UAE community and best practices
• ESG frameworks and international standards (IFC, EBRD, ADB, IDB).
• Social Impact Assessment and stakeholder engagement planning.
• Corporate sustainability reporting and performance tracking.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking.
• Excellent communication and report writing.
• Ability to influence across multi-stakeholder environments.
• Project management and cross-functional collaboration
• Professional certifications in ESG or sustainability (e.g., CFI, ESG Specialization, GARP SCR, CESGA, GRI, CDP) are highly desirable.
