Job summary

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company seeks a Senior Sustainability Specialist to lead implementation of sustainability strategy, monitor metrics, and support reporting across the organization. You will collect data, assess initiatives, and develop KPIs to drive efficiency and reduce risk.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Environmental Science/Engineering and about 9 years in sustainability, preferably in oil and gas, with strong communication, analytical and leadership skills to influence multiple

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

Provide advice and support in implementation of sustainability strategy, with associated goals designed to drive business results, reduce risk and ensure continuity and enhance brand value.

Support data collection, analysis, and reporting for sustainability across the company, supporting company sustainability goals and objectives, and supporting the timely and accurate reporting of progress against key sustainability metrics.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Sustainability Strategy Implementation and Analysis

• Review, prioritize and advise on the goals and objectives of sustainability.
• Collect and analyse data across the company, to baseline progress against key sustainability metrics.
• Develop sustainability project goals, objectives and initiatives to meet business and operational requirements.
• Assess or propose sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance.
• Monitor and track sustainability indicators, such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and flaring.
• Contribute and provide recommendations on sustainability proposals or policies.
• Research or review regulatory, technical, or market issues related to sustainability.
• Identify or create new sustainability key performance indicators.
• Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and reduction, waste water management, flaring, or other sustainability issues.
• Provide technical or administrative support for sustainability programs or issues.
• Identify resources required to implement sustainability programs or projects.
• Create or maintain plans or other documents related to sustainability projects.
• Develop reports or presentations to communicate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure appropriate internal controls and measurement systems are in place to support sustainability efforts.
• Measure and monitor progress against company's sustainability strategies, objectives and performance targets.
• Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses for key metrics and special projects. Prepare summaries of sustainability progress and highlights.
• Create innovation dashboards to continuously monitor all innovation activities.
• Regularly report to management on the health of company's sustainability portfolio and key initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry or Engineering.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

• 9 years of professional experience in Environmental Sustainability, preferably in oil & gas industry.
• Considerable knowledge of sustainability concepts and awareness of the central issues facing sustainable practices including best management practices
• excellent communication skills to rationally explain, explore and discuss environmental issues, as well as to sell your ideas and services
• Understanding of sustainability strategies and management systems
• Knowledge of international sustainability standards, codes and work practices.
• Strong influencing capabilities especially in a multi-stakeholder environment
• Ability to work effectively with other people and in teams
• Strong strategic, tactical, and analytical thinking
