Job description

The role involves delivering professional, ethical, and high-quality clinical care, managing clinical risks, ensuring compliance with governance standards, and maintaining accurate medical records. It also emphasizes continuous professional development and integrity in providing ethical, responsible clinical services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, professional, and ethical clinical services to patients effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.
  • Maintain accurate medical records.
  • Maintain excellence in medical practice through continuous professional development of self and others.
  • Maintain integrity in professional services by executing clinical services ethically and responsibly.
  • Perform the endocrine professional duties in accordance with the delineation of privileges recommended and approved by the Credentials Committee.
  • Provide endocrine evaluation for patients with hormonal diseases.
  • Provide after‑hour on‑call emergency coverage for endocrinology emergencies.
  • Perform endocrine procedures such as dynamic hormonal tests in appropriate patients.
  • Provide consultation and referral services to inpatient services in the area of expertise.
  • Work with patients throughout the entire process from consultation to treatment plan.
  • Supervise and educate staff nurses, patients, and technicians.
  • Participate in and contribute to quality assurance activities such as monthly mortality and morbidity conferences, peer review, audit, and chart review.
  • Order diagnostic laboratory studies and X‑ray examinations, determine diagnosis, and prescribe applicable therapy.
  • Participate in in‑service activities such as lectures, conferences, and rounds.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings.
  • Strictly observe organizational medical regulations and policies, especially those related to infection control, patient safety, assessment, and care.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as required by the Head of Department.
  • Work under Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems: comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies, and safe working procedures; use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems; be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Assist with preparation of risk assessments and report OSH hazards, incidents, near‑misses, and issues; reduce reuse and recycling of waste as much as possible.
  • Attend all OSH trainings, awareness programs, and mock drills; participate in OSHMS audits, inspections, and ensure standards are maintained.
  • Implement Prevention and Control of Infection (PCI) policy and strategy; maintain highest possible standards of cleanliness to reduce infection risk.
  • Adhere to strict hand hygiene protocols, including the five moments of hand hygiene; keep hands bare above elbows and perform environmental care as expected of all staff.
Qualifications
  • At least 3–5 years’ post‑qualification experience at specialist level (independent of country).
  • At least 1 year of specialist level experience from a Tier1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
  • Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
  • Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
  • Active and valid life support certification (e.g., BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP).
  • Eligibility for relevant healthcare authority registration, e.g., membership from the Royal College, Arab Board Certification, MS, DM, MPhil, or an equivalent recognised by the UAE healthcare authority.
