Job summary

GEMS Education in Dubai is seeking a passionate Middle School Special Educator to join our Inclusion team, supporting students with additional learning needs through targeted interventions and close collaboration with teachers, parents, and specialists.

The role involves developing and reviewing IEPs, differentiating instruction, monitoring progress, and contributing to staff training to promote inclusive practices across the school.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required.
• Experience with IEP development and inclusive classroom strategies preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years in special education or learning support.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group interventions to support academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress against targets.
• Collaborate with subject teachers to implement differentiation, scaffolding, accommodations, and inclusive classroom strategies.
• Use assessment data and observations to identify learning needs and inform interventions.
• Work with parents, teachers, counsellors, therapists, and the Inclusion team to coordinate student support.
• Promote student wellbeing, independence, confidence, and active participation in the school community.
• Maintain accurate student records and contribute to meetings and school initiatives.
• Contribute to staff awareness and professional learning on inclusive practices.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support students with additional learning needs by providing targeted interventions, promoting classroom inclusion, and working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group interventions to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress against identified targets.
• Collaborate with subject teachers to implement effective differentiation, scaffolding, accommodations, and inclusive classroom strategies.
• Use assessment data and observations to identify learning needs and inform appropriate interventions.
• Work closely with parents, teachers, counsellors, therapists, and the Inclusion team to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.
• Promote student wellbeing, independence, confidence, and active participation in the school community.
• Maintain accurate student records and contribute to case reviews, meetings, and relevant school initiatives.
• Support the development of inclusive practices and contribute to staff awareness and professional learning.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• Relevant teaching/special education qualification preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in special education or learning support, preferably within a school environment.
• Experience working with Middle School students is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IEPs, differentiation, intervention strategies, and inclusive education practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
