Job summary

Supermicro is expanding its service team for its Datacenter Solutions Engineer role. You will install and rack servers, storage and network gear, and provide on-site hardware support for customers in the Netherlands, collaborating with engineering and service desks.

Travel locally and internationally is required, with occasional extended hours. Candidates should have 5 years in datacenter hardware service, a CS/CE/EE degree (Dutch equivalence acceptable), strong English, plus Windows/Linux

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience servicing complex X86 datacenter systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or Dutch MBO4 equivalent.
• Strong written and spoken English; Dutch a plus.
• Proficient with Windows and Linux environments.
• Scripting skills in Bash/Python/PHP beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical installation, rack and stack, cabling and networking of data center hardware.
• Assist in deploying server, storage and network equipment.
• Coordinate with engineering for seamless hardware integration.
• Ensure hardware is installed per specifications and performs quality checks.
• Provide first-line technical support via phone, email and ticketing system.
• Refer complex issues to higher level teams as needed.
• Willingness to travel internationally and locally, including extended hours/weekends.

We are looking to expand our current team in the service department for our branch in the Netherlands (s‑'Hertogenbosch). Supermicro has been a household name in the field of motherboards, servers and total solutions for more than 30 years, where we provide service to major customers in various industries on the basis of service contracts.

About the Position:

As a Datacenter Solution Engineer you will be part of the Supermicro Global Service Installation Team and help build a world‑class service organization. Carrying out racking and installation of server hardware, network equipment and cable routing of copper/fiber optic cables. You provide technical support for installed equipment with regard to hardware and software functionalities. You report to and assist the Solutions manager in the daily business and are also part of the service desk team that works on service tickets. You also assist with customer contact and carrying out hardware break fixes on location at customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform physical installation, rack and stack, cabling and networking of data center hardware.
• Assist/support in the implementation of server, storage and network equipment.
• Coordinate with the engineering team to ensure seamless integration of hardware solutions.
• Work with the engineering team to ensure hardware is installed correctly according to specifications.
• Perform quality checks and test functionality after installation.
• Provide first‑line technical support to end users via telephone, email and ticketing system.
• Refer complex issues to higher level support teams when necessary.
• Be willing to travel (internationally and locally) to carry out installations at customers or solve problems in data centers, which includes occasional extended hours and weekend work.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in servicing complex X86 systems and components in a datacenter environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or for Dutch MBO4 in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering or comparable level obtained through experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent command of the English language, Dutch would be a plus.
• Good understanding of Windows & Linux environment.
• Knowledge on scripting (Bash, PHP, Python, etc.) is a plus.
• Demonstrated hardware system analytics and diagnostics skills, as well as a good understanding of how BIOS, drivers, and application loads can cause system issues.
• Ability to work in a challenging, dynamic, and fast‑paced environment. Must be solution‑oriented, a team player with the ability to identify and elevate issues in a timely manner and be proactive in driving solutions.
• Emphasize break/fix and onsite Customer Service.
• Hands‑on experience with Enterprise grade server hardware.
• You live within a radius of 40 km of ‘s‑Hertogenbosch.
