Job summary

Flip retail is seeking a Mechanical Technician to oversee the Solar Field area, ensuring safe isolation and coordination with control room operators. The role includes maintenance, inspections, and handling of mirrors, absorbers and fiber optics under the Solar Field Designer's guidance.

Experience in CSP technologies is preferred, with hands-on tasks across mechanical maintenance, safety checks and equipment testing within the solar field environment.

Qualifications

• Mechanical service technician by occupation.
• Experience in CSP technologies is preferred for solar field operator roles.

Responsibilities

• Ensure devices are safely isolated in coordination with designers, shift charge managers and control room operators before starting work.
• Maintain solar field areas and perform regular rounds to inspect components and infrastructure.
• Inspect joints, mirrors, frames, valves, insulation and reflectivity during rounds.
• Disconnect and stabilize loops and fans per maintenance needs.
• Verify normal operation of equipment (process values, noise, odours) in the Solar Field.
• Perform precautionary, corrective, predictive and precision maintenance tasks as directed by the Solar Field Designer.
• Oversee tasks like ball-joint graphite, mirrors replacement, absorber tubes replacement and fiber optic work.
• Record cleanliness measurements and coordinate with the Solar Field Designer.
