Job description

Supervise preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities for solar PV plant equipment.Support operation and maintenance activities of LV/MV electrical systems including MV switchgear, RMUs, transformers, protection relays, LV distribution boards, MCCs, UPS, DC systems, battery systems, auxiliary transformers, and associated equipment.Support operation and maintenance activities for central inverters, DC systems including combiner boxes and PV modules, and cleaning robot systems.Be competent in LV/MV switching operations, equipment isolation and restoration, interpretation of single-line diagrams, electrical interlocks, LOTO implementation, and safe coordination of switching activities.Perform practical troubleshooting of SCADA/OT systems including HMI/SCADA servers and clients, historian interfaces, communication networks, fibre optic links, managed Ethernet switches, media converters, RTUs, PLCs, gateways, protocol converters, and field communication interfaces.Monitor SCADA plant overview, inverter/block status, equipment availability, active alarms, communication health, and key operational parameters during the shift.Identify and differentiate equipment faults, communication failures, bad-quality signals, frozen values, and loss of data from field devices.Troubleshoot SCADA/OT communication loss using IT/OT checks including IP addressing, subnetting, ping/connectivity tests, Ethernet port/link status, switch status, VLAN awareness, fibre link condition, media converters, device power supply, RTU/PLC communication, and network-path verification.Check SCADA trends and historical data to support fault diagnosis, performance monitoring, and identification of abnormal equipment behaviour.Verify field equipment status, digital indications, analog measurements, commands, and feedback against SCADA; identify bad-quality data, frozen values, incorrect scaling, status mismatch, or loss of telemetry and elevate with clear technical evidence.Understand basic SCADA alarm acknowledgement, alarm priority, event sequence, status indications, and escalation requirements without bypassing or suppressing alarms without authorization.Support restoration of SCADA/OT communication after equipment shutdowns, network interruptions, server/client issues, power failures, or maintenance activities, and confirm end-to-end recovery of alarms, status, measurements, commands, and historical data.Maintain clear records of SCADA alarms, communication faults, recurring issues, troubleshooting actions, and equipment restoration in shift handover and maintenance reports.Understand the OT network architecture and the functional relationship between SCADA servers/clients, network switches, RTUs, PLCs, gateways, field devices, and plant controllers.Have practical knowledge of industrial communication protocols used in power plants, particularly Modbus TCP/RTU and basic IEC 61850 concepts, and identify whether a fault is at field-device, communication, network, PLC/RTU, or SCADA level.Perform LV/MV electrical fault finding using single-line diagrams, schematics, protection indications, breaker status, relay alarms, electrical measurements, and SCADA information to support safe and fast fault localization.Coordinate field verification and safe restoration following LV/MV trips, inverter/transformer faults, auxiliary supply failures, protection operations, and SCADA/communication disturbances.Respond to SCADA alarms and coordinate fast restoration of affected equipment.Guide technicians during troubleshooting of inverters, transformers, RMUs, trackers, and other electrical systems.Ensure all work is performed as per approved SOPs, method statements, risk assessments, checklists, and OEM manuals.Follow the approved maintenance plan as assigned through the CMMS and ensure all completed activities, findings, and reports are properly recorded.Confirm PTW, LOTO, PPE, tools, and safety requirements before starting any activity.Monitor subcontractor work quality, safety compliance, and site housekeeping.Ensure maintenance records, spare part usage, reports, and shift handover information are properly updated.Coordinate with Lead Engineer, SCADA team, HSSE team, and other departments when required.Strong in MS office, Provide daily updates, observations, and improvement suggestions to the Lead Engineer.

Desired Candidate Profile

Diploma or Degree in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics / Electromechanical Engineering, Power Electronics, Automation, Instrumentation & Control, or a closely related discipline.Minimum 4 years of hands‑on O&M experience in a utility‑scale power plant, preferably solar PV, with demonstrated practical exposure to both SCADA/OT systems and LV/MV electrical equipment.Strong hands‑on SCADA/OT background is mandatory: HMI/SCADA operation, alarm/event analysis, trend and historian review, RTUs, PLCs, gateways, managed Ethernet switches, fibre optics, media converters, field interfaces, and systematic communication fault diagnosis.Solid IT/OT networking fundamentals are required, including TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnetting, basic VLAN concepts, network connectivity testing, Ethernet/fibre diagnostics, and understanding of industrial network topology.Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols relevant to power plants, particularly Modbus TCP/RTU and basic IEC 61850 concepts, is strongly preferred.Solid LV/MV electrical competence is mandatory, including switchgear, RMUs, transformers, circuit breakers, protection relays, LV distribution, UPS/DC systems, auxiliary supplies, switching/isolation, and safe restoration.Must be able to read and use single‑line diagrams, control schematics, protection diagrams, interlocking logic, and electrical drawings during troubleshooting and switching activities.Candidate must be capable of distinguishing between an electrical equipment fault, instrumentation/signal issue, communication/network fault, PLC/RTU issue, and SCADA/HMI issue before escalation.Experience in guiding and managing technicians, subcontractors, and site maintenance activities.Good knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and reading electrical drawings/schematics.Knowledge of inverters, transformers, RMUs, solar trackers, and substation equipment.Good understanding of PTW, LOTO, risk assessment, toolbox talk, and HSSE requirements.Basic knowledge of CMMS / maintenance reporting systems.Good communication skills in English.UAE driving license is preferred.
