This is not a manual QA role; it focuses on building automation, pipelines, tooling, quality checks, observability integrations, mock services, test infrastructure, and code review automation. The role supports mobile squads by helping them detect issues earlier, reduce repetitive review effort, stabilize release processes, and continuously deliver better customer experiences through reliable mobile engineering infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute, maintain, and improve mobile CI/CD pipelines that support pull request builds, release workflows, caching strategies, and automated quality checks.
- Support the operation and improvement of in-house macOS device farm infrastructure used for mobile testing and delivery.
- Implement automated quality guardrails in CI to validate performance, app stability, screen availability, and release readiness before code is merged.
- Automate release infrastructure tasks within short to medium planning cycles, helping teams deliver improvements between daily execution and 3-month goals.
- Build integrations that connect crash logs, automated test results, incident signals, and quality metrics with observability dashboards.
- Automate the collection of mobile release incident data so teams can detect regressions and understand release health more clearly.
- Implement API and contract testing within CI pipelines to reduce the risk of backend changes breaking mobile applications.
- Build mock servers and automated test data generation scripts to improve the stability of end-to-end UI testing.
- Write and maintain automated linting rules, static analysis checks, and architectural guardrails that catch quality issues early.
- Create scripts, bots, and automation tools that reduce manual code review effort for product squads.
- Work with mobile developers, platform engineers, product engineers, and technical stakeholders to improve developer experience.
- Contribute clean, maintainable production code in languages such as TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, or Kotlin.
- Configure and maintain CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
- Write Bash scripts and automation utilities that support testing, release, build, and developer productivity workflows.
- Support automated testing frameworks such as Maestro, Appium, XCUITest, Espresso, or similar tools.
- Help improve engineering reliability by understanding how mobile applications interact with backend services and platform systems.
Ideal Profile
- 1-3 years of experience as a Software Engineer, SDET, Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or mobile automation engineer.
- Strong programming ability in at least one language such as TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, or Kotlin.
- Able to write clean, maintainable, production-ready code for automation, tooling, and quality infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience configuring CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins, or similar tools.
- Practical experience writing shell scripts using Bash or equivalent scripting approaches.
- Experience building, maintaining, or contributing to automated testing frameworks such as Maestro, Appium, XCUITest, or Espresso.
- Solid understanding of mobile application architecture and how frontend mobile apps interact with backend services.
- Familiarity with API testing, contract testing, mock servers, test data generation, and release automation is valuable.
- Strong interest in developer experience, automation, tooling quality, and engineering productivity.
- Comfortable working in planning cycles that require both fast execution and structured medium‑term delivery.
- Able to collaborate with product engineers and understand them as primary users of quality infrastructure.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset with the ability to improve systems, reduce friction, and automate repetitive tasks.
- Detail‑oriented, curious, and motivated to build technical solutions that improve release confidence and engineering speed.
