Role Context

The Mobile Engineering Manager - Apps will lead a team of mobile engineers responsible for building and improving the talabat consumer experience across iOS and Android. The role covers feature delivery, technical direction, mobile architecture, team coaching, release quality, performance monitoring, and cross-team coordination.

By balancing engineering discipline with product impact, this position helps improve discovery, ordering, real‑time tracking, payments, app reliability, and the overall customer journey across a high‑scale regional delivery platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 6-10 mobile engineers working across iOS and Android consumer app features.
• Guide planning, development, testing, release, and continuous improvement of customer‑facing mobile product experiences.
• Own mobile release quality by improving testing strategy, tracking crash rates, monitoring performance metrics, and maintaining a healthy release cadence.
• Partner with Product Managers and Designers to shape feature direction while balancing user impact, business priorities, and technical feasibility.
• Make informed architectural decisions across mobile patterns such as modularisation, dependency injection, reactive programming, and navigation architecture.
• Stay close enough to the codebase to unblock engineers, review technical trade‑offs, and maintain high engineering standards.
• Coach and develop engineers through regular 1:1s, pairing sessions, feedback conversations, and career development planning.
• Support XP engineering practices such as pair programming, test‑driven development, continuous delivery, and quality‑focused development.
• Manage cross‑team dependencies with backend, platform, infrastructure, product, design, and quality teams.
• Contribute to mobile engineering standards, reusable practices, and technical guidelines across talabat.
• Improve delivery rhythm by helping the team plan realistically, remove blockers, and ship valuable product increments.
• Promote strong engineering habits around testing, observability, performance, maintainability, and scalable mobile architecture.
• Build a clear understanding of team strengths, growth areas, delivery patterns, and stakeholder expectations.
• Support a collaborative team culture where quality enables speed and engineers feel ownership of customer outcomes.
• Help the mobile team deliver reliable features across discovery, ordering, payments, tracking, and other core app journeys.

Ideal Profile

• Strong experience in mobile engineering, software engineering management, or technical leadership across iOS and Android teams.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop mobile engineers in a product‑focused engineering environment.
• Hands‑on technical background with enough depth to discuss architecture, code quality, release risks, and engineering trade‑offs.
• Experience delivering customer‑facing mobile applications at scale in consumer product, marketplace, e‑commerce, delivery, or platform environments.
• Strong understanding of mobile app architecture, modularisation, dependency injection, reactive patterns, navigation structures, and release practices.
• Experience partnering with product, design, backend, platform, and infrastructure teams to deliver high‑quality app features.
• Comfortable leading teams that use modern engineering practices such as test‑driven development, pair programming, continuous delivery, and automated testing.
