Role Context

The Social Studies HOD will provide direction to secondary teaching teams while maintaining a strong connection with daily classroom delivery. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of Social Studies across secondary grade levels.
• Work directly with teachers to strengthen subject knowledge, classroom practice, and instructional confidence.
• Review curriculum plans and ensure that content is sequenced logically across year groups.
• Contribute actively to departmental and whole-school academic planning.
• Support school leaders in identifying priorities for improving teaching and student achievement.

• The HOD will use lesson evidence, student work, assessment data, and teacher feedback to identify areas requiring focused departmental support.

Ideal Profile

• A Master 's degree or Bachelor of Education in Social Studies.
• A Master of Arts or Bachelor of Arts in Humanities or Social Studies.

Qualifications obtained through distance-learning or open-university programs will not be accepted. The preferred candidate will have strong Social Studies expertise, previous UAE school experience, and practical exposure to subject coordination or academic leadership.
