Job summary

Velago General Contracting LLC SPC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to supervise on-site installation of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in UAE. You will ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, and local codes, and coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and consultants to address technical issues.

The role requires 3–6 years of experience, strong knowledge of healthcare mechanical systems, and ability to review shop drawings and conduct commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
• 3–6 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of healthcare-specific systems: HVAC, medical gas systems, fire protection, and plumbing.
• Experience supervising mechanical installations and adherence to ASHRAE, NFPA and local codes.
• Ability to review drawings, specifications and shop drawings for accuracy.
• Familiarity with mechanical testing, commissioning and handover processes.
• Ability to manage site activities and coordinate with multiple disciplines.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations on construction sites.
• Experience with FIDIC contracts is a plus.
• UAE driving license is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with authorities to ensure compliance with local codes and permits.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental regulations are followed.

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise the installation of mechanical systems on-site, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection.
• Ensure all mechanical works are executed in compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, and relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, local building codes).
• Perform site inspections to ensure mechanical installations meet quality and safety standards.
• Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and consultants to address technical issues and ensure smooth execution of works.
• Review and approve subcontractor shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals to ensure compliance with design intent and specifications.
• Monitor and control site progress to ensure timely completion of mechanical installations, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical support during site meetings, ensuring alignment between mechanical installations and other disciplines.
• Ensure all mechanical installations are tested, commissioned, and fully operational before project handover.
• Support and participate in the preparation of daily and weekly reports regarding mechanical site activities, progress, and issues.
• Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure compliance with all local codes, permits, and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the mechanical installation process.

Required qualifications and years of experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• 3 to 6 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare-specific mechanical systems, including HVAC, medical gas systems, fire protection, and plumbing.
• Experience in supervising mechanical installations and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and local regulations.
• Proficient in reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings for accuracy and compliance.
• Familiarity with mechanical system testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
• Ability to manage site activities effectively, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and resolve issues quickly.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and their application in the construction industry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working under FIDIC or other standard contract forms is a plus.
• UAE driving license is an advantage
