Job summary

Star Services in Abu Dhabi is seeking a qualified Electrical Maintenance professional for its steel plant. The role focuses on safe, reliable electrical maintenance across the melting and billet casting process with high automation exposure.

The candidate should have a Diploma in Engineering with significant maintenance experience in steel environments, and a track record in CMMS SAP, spare parts control, and production liaison.

Qualifications

• Diploma holder: 5 years in electrical maintenance in a steel plant; or trade certificate holder: 8 years in electrical maintenance.
• Experience in steel melting and billet casting with high automation.

Responsibilities

• Work Planning: follow safety rules, inspect maintenance work orders, use condition monitoring for failure prevention.
• Analysis and Reporting: review daily activities with supervisor to plan skill-specific actions and improve maintenance service.
• Team supervision: guide and train new team members to ensure required skills and behavior.
• Problem Solving: provide input to resolve major maintenance problems to minimize downtime.
• Spare parts management: assist in ensuring proper spare parts management.
• Production Liaison: meet daily with production to finalize machine shutdowns and feedback on service standards.
• Job Inputting: ensure accurate entry of job details into maintenance systems for trend analysis.
• Performance Review: review outstanding jobs and trends to address non-compliance and plan corrective actions.
• Budgeting: assist in data/report preparation for annual budgeting.
• National Development Program: help develop UAE national trainees for targeted positions.
• Health, Safety & Environment: direct and follow ESI Integrated Management System procedures.

Job description

Must Have Steel Industry Experience.

Minimum Education Qualification (Education Degree)

Diploma in Engineering or Engineering

Any preferred professional training

Trained on Elect. & Auto. Systems pertaining to Steel Melting and Billet casting plant

Professional Experience (Must haves)

• 5 years (for Diploma holder) or 8 years (for Trade Certificate holder) in Electrical maintenance in steel plant preferably in Steel Melting and Billet casting plant with higher level of automation.

Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations

• Working experience in any of the Middle-east countries (familiar with rules and regulations, climatic conditions)

• Health & Safety compliance systems experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work Planning: Works to Safety Rules and regulations, electrical maintenance work inspection reports & work orders .Follows job risk assessment and job work procedures. With Superior Uses condition monitoring techniques as a basis for prevention of failure and diagnoses complex equipment failures.

• Analysis and Reporting: Analysis of previous day & shift activities with Supervisor so that action plans specific to skills can be developed to address line stoppage and fault analysis issues and hence improve maintenance service to internal customers.

• Team supervision: Guide, monitor and assists train new team members so that the employees have the appropriate skills and behaviors required to deliver required levels of service to internal customers.

• Problem Solving: Personally provide technical input to the resolution of major maintenance problems so that line down time is minimized and direct reports are accurate for technical understanding.

• Spare parts management: Assist Supervisor in ensuring proper spare parts management.
• Production Liaison: Meet with production personnel on a daily basis to discuss and finalize machine shut down schedules and obtain feedback on historical standards of service provision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities(Contd)

• Job Inputting: Ensure that job details are correctly completed and entered onto maintenance systems to ensure that accurate performance trends can be identified and electrical maintenance jobs are handled in a timely manner.
• Performance Review: Review outstanding jobs and trend analyses on a weekly basis to address underlying reasons for service non-compliance and put in place appropriate action plans to effect correction.
• Budgeting: Assist Supervisor in preparing data and reports to input into the annual budgeting process.
• National Development Program: Assist in developing U.A.E. national trainees / employees to prepare them ready for acquiring targeted positions in line with IDP developed as per company policies.
• Health, Safety & Environment: Directs, maintain and follow ESI Integrated Management System procedures and guide lines.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities required

• Fully conversant with Steel Melting and Billet casting process.
• Fair knowledge of Level 1 Automation systems related to Steel Melting and Billet casting process.
• Experience on maintenance of processing equipment (Medium Voltage Substations, Transformers, Switchgears, PLCs, Drives, and Motors etc.)
• Familiar with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email etc.
• Ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP, and instruct others on its operation.
