Assistant Manager - Electrical & Automation

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all electrical systems
- Supervise and guide shift in-charges, senior technicians, and maintenance teams
- Ensure compliance with applicable Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) policies, procedures, legal requirements, and management system standards
- Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other applicable management system requirements within the department
- Ensure all electrical and automation maintenance activities are carried out safely in accordance with approved procedures, permits, and risk assessments
- Ensure the implementation and compliance of Lockout/Tag out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance, shutdown, and troubleshooting activities
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) for maintenance and project activities and implement appropriate control measures
- Monitor safe work practices, PPE compliance, housekeeping standards, and electrical safety requirements within the department
- Ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of electrical waste, electronic components, oils, batteries, and hazardous materials in accordance with environmental requirements
- Participate in investigations of incidents, near misses, equipment breakdowns, and unsafe conditions, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented
- Coordinate and support emergency preparedness activities related to electrical hazards, fire prevention, equipment failures, and automation system emergencies
- Ensure all contractors and external service providers comply with site safety and QHSE requirements during maintenance and project execution
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to maintenance activities, calibration, inspections, permits, audits, and statutory compliance
- Support internal audits, external audits, inspections, and management review activities related to QHSE systems
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety awareness sessions, and technical competency training for team members
- Report non-conformities, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, environmental incidents, and operational risks to management, ensuring timely closure
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, safety, reliability, environmental performance, and energy efficiency
Accountabilities
- Ensure the overall reliability and availability of electrical systems
- Reduce equipment downtime and maintenance costs
- Ensure the successful execution of projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain compliance with organizational QHSE requirements, statutory regulations, and electrical safety standards
- Ensure the safe and reliable operation of electrical and automation systems
- Prevent electrical incidents, unsafe conditions, and environmental impacts related to departmental activities
- Maintain audit readiness and accurate compliance records for all electrical and automation activities
- Ensure the competency, awareness, and QHSE compliance of maintenance personnel and contractors
- Achieve departmental QHSE objectives, safety KPIs, and continuous improvement targets
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognized institution
- Hands‑on experience with PLC programming, including ladder diagram development using Siemens S7-400 Simatic Manager and Siemens S7-1500 series with TIA Portal
- Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, including PC and PLC integration, data collection, and data storage, preferably using Siemens WinCC
- Knowledge of industrial instrumentation systems
- Experience working in a hot rolling plant, preferably in the section rolling area
- Experience working with Siemens system integrators is preferred
