Job summary

ABB in UAE is seeking a Service Workshop Technician to supervise workshop operations, ensuring quality testing, refurbishment, and FAT of switchgear and related electrical equipment. You will manage inspection stages, coordinate resources, and drive improvements across the service team on site in the UAE.

Role requires 8+ years in LV switchgear environments, experience in supervisory roles, and strong knowledge of electrical distribution, testing, and service operations.

Qualifications

• Degree, Diploma, or Trade Qualification in Electrical/Mechanical/Electromechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in low-voltage switchgear and module production, service workshop operations, electrical maintenance, or related technical environment.
• Experience in supervisory/coordination roles such as Service Workshop Supervisor, Service Coordinator, or similar roles.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for Service Workshop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely completion of service work orders.
• Lead workshop service activities including LV/MV switchgear maintenance, module assembly, refurbishment, and repair by managing technicians.
• Plan, schedule, and allocate resources to meet customer requirements and contractual priorities.
• Coordinate job readiness with documentation, materials, tools, and safety requirements.
• Monitor progress and ensure service reports and test reports are completed and submitted.
• Identify gaps and coordinate with engineering/planning for continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain technician competency matrices, training records, and authorizations to ensure compliance.
• Drive improvements to services, tools, and workshop practices for efficiency and customer satisfaction.
