Job summary

techcarrot is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the ongoing operations of a hybrid IT infrastructure in the UAE. You will manage on‑prem data center systems, cloud platforms, and security compliance while driving modernization initiatives.

The role requires hands‑on engineering, strong leadership, and the ability to support business operations across the UAE and potentially regional locations. Strong virtualization, cloud, and scripting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Infrastructure roles.
• Hands‑on experience with Windows Server and Linux systems; VMware and/or Hyper‑V virtualization.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise networking, storage (SAN/NAS), backup and disaster recovery.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) and hybrid enterprise environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise‑grade on‑premise infrastructure (compute, storage, virtualization, networking).
• Administer and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Hyper‑V.
• Manage Windows and Linux server environments; oversee AD, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies.
• Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of infrastructure services; lead upgrades and migrations.
• Implement cloud governance, security, and hybrid cloud connectivity; lead cloud migration efforts.
• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible; maintain IaC practices; monitor and document architectures.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to manage the ongoing operations of a hybrid IT infrastructure, including on-premises data center systems and cloud platforms. This role requires strong technical leadership, hands‑on engineering capability, and a deep understanding of enterprise systems in a fast‑paced, business‑critical environment.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in infrastructure modernization, cloud migration initiatives, security compliance, and operational excellence, supporting business operations across the UAE and potentially regional locations.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Engineering & Operations

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise‑grade on‑premise infrastructure (compute, storage, virtualization, and networking)
• Administer and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Hyper‑V
• Manage and support Windows and Linux server environments
• Oversee Active Directory, Azure AD, identity federation, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies
• Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of infrastructure services
• Lead infrastructure upgrades, data center migrations, and technology refresh projects

Cloud & Hybrid Platforms

• Manage cloud infrastructure platforms (Microsoft / Amazon /Google)
• Implement and support hybrid cloud connectivity, cloud governance, security, and best practices
• Lead cloud migration and modernization efforts from on premises to cloud
• Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage and performance

Security, Compliance & Reliability

• Apply infrastructure security hardening and access controls
• Support compliance with organizational policies and regional regulations
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies
• Participate in audits, vulnerability assessments, and security reviews

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible
• Adopt Infrastructure‑as‑Code and configuration management best practices
• Improve system reliability through proactive monitoring and alerting
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and architecture diagrams

Leadership & Support

• Provide root‑cause analysis for critical incidents
• Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge transfer
• Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders
• Participate in on‑call and after‑hours support when required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Infrastructure roles
• Strong hands‑on experience with:
  • Windows Server and Linux systems
  • VMware and/or Hyper‑V virtualization
  • Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms
• Solid understanding of:
  • Enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, VLANs, Firewalls, VPNs)
  • Storage technologies (SAN, NAS)
  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Proven experience in hybrid enterprise environments
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities

Preferred Qualifications (Advantage)

• Microsoft Certification – On‑Premises / Cloud
• Linux Knowledge – Red Hat / Suse
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Intune, and endpoint integration
• Knowledge of container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with ITIL‑based service management environments
• Experience working in enterprise or regional Middle East environments
• Exposure to compliance frameworks and security standards
