Job summary

RINA is recruiting a Senior System Engineer (Railway System Integration Manager) to join its Abu Dhabi office within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.

The role covers system design, integration, and optimization of railway subsystems across rolling stock, signaling, infrastructure, power supply, and communication systems, leading the System Engineering team to ensure full project integration and successful delivery of the railway system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in integration and system engineering for railway systems.
• Experience focusing on sustainability in tailway systems and infrastructure design, construction, and operation.
• Rolling Stock (Locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, High-Speed Trains)
• Signaling Systems (ETCS, CBTC, PTC, Interlocking)
• Electrification (25kV AC, 750V DC, 3kV DC systems)
• Track Infrastructure (Standard gauge, High-Speed Rail, Light Rail, Metro)
• Interface management between hardware, software, and infrastructure.
• Managing mixed traffic operations (High-speed, freight, commuter trains).

RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior System Engineer (Railway System Integration Manager) to join its office in Abu Dhabi within theElectronics and System EngineeringDivision.

Mission

The Railway Senior System Engineer is responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing railway systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role involves system-level thinking, covering rolling stock, signaling, infrastructure, power supply, and communication systems.

The successful candidate will join the RINA team and will act as Railway Integration Manager for the project of appointment, leading the System Engineering team and collaborating with other System Engineering and System Assurance Experts and Managers, by ensuring the full successful integration of the systems involved in the development and construction of the whole railway system.

Key Accountabilities

A. System Design & Architecture

- Defining and managing railway system scenarios, requirements, system architecture, interaction between subsystems (rolling stock, signaling, tracks, power supply).

- Selecting appropriate technologies and configurations for new rail projects.

-Manage the interface development by the subsystems and coordinating the process of verification and validation of all interfaces during the life cycle of the project up to interface final successful closure.

B. System Integration

- Ensuring interoperability between different railway subsystems, interfaces between rolling stock, signaling, and infrastructure.

- Validating system compatibility across national and international requirements and standards (e.g., EN, NFPA, ...).

- Ensuring performance and functionalities for all foreseen scenarios for the railway system.

- Manage the correct integration of the system with all the external stakeholders, ensuring the correct finalization of interfaces and of all the applicable authorization processes.

C. Performance Optimization

- Enhancing railway system efficiency in terms of capacity, energy consumption, and operational reliability.

D. Verification & Validation

- Ensuring railway systems adhere to the performance and characteristics required by the project requirements, standards, laws, …

- Defining and monitoring the execution of the V&V plan

E. Lifecycle Management

- Managing railway system upgrades and modernization projects.

- Supporting asset management and maintenance planning to maximize system longevity.

F. Digitalization & Smart Rail Technologies

- Implementing IoT, AI, and Big Data solutions for predictive maintenance and automation.

- Working with Digital Twin, Remote Monitoring, and Smart Signaling technologies.
