Job summary

RINA is recruiting a Senior System Engineer (Railway System Integration Manager) to join its Abu Dhabi office within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.

The role covers system design, integration, and optimization of railway subsystems across rolling stock, signaling, infrastructure, power supply, and communication systems, leading the System Engineering team to ensure full project integration and successful delivery of the railway system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in integration and system engineering for railway systems.
• Experience focusing on sustainability in tailway systems and infrastructure design, construction, and operation.
• Rolling Stock (Locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, High-Speed Trains)
• Signaling Systems (ETCS, CBTC, PTC, Interlocking)
• Electrification (25kV AC, 750V DC, 3kV DC systems)
• Track Infrastructure (Standard gauge, High-Speed Rail, Light Rail, Metro)
• Interface management between hardware, software, and infrastructure.
• Managing mixed traffic operations (High-speed, freight, commuter trains).
• CENELEC Standards: EN 50126 (RAMS), EN 50128 (Software), EN 50129 (Safety)
• ETCS/ERTMS (European Train Control System)
• IEC 62290 (Urban Rail Control Systems)
• UIC, AAR, and FRA Regulations (for different railway regions)
• Systems Engineering: DOORS, Enterprise Architect
• Failure & Safety Analysis: ReliaSoft, FMECA, FTA Tools
• Electrical & Mechanical Design: MATLAB, Simulink, CATIA
• Project Management & Lifecycle Management: Working with V-Model, Agile, or Waterfall methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Define railway system scenarios, requirements, and architecture with subsystems.
• Lead system integration to ensure interoperability across subsystems and interfaces.
• Oversee verification, validation, and interface closure throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders and ensure compliance with authorization processes.
• Drive performance optimization for capacity, energy, and reliability.
• Lead digitalization initiatives including IoT, AI, and digital twin concepts.
