Job summary

RINA is seeking a Rail System Engineering Lead to join its Abu Dhabi office within the Project Engineering Division. The role focuses on the technical execution of high-value railway projects, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across multidisciplinary teams.

You will supervise engineering activities, coordinate with designers and subcontractors, and drive risk assessments, RAMS, and integration activities to meet client expectations and project milestones.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in technical projects and 10–15 years in project management.
• Interdisciplinary background in System Engineering, RAM and Safety Assurance for large-scale railway projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project engineering team and assign tasks for efficient execution.
• Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors and other teams to meet project requirements and milestones.
• Ensure quality control and safety compliance across all technical deliverables.
• Develop and review technical reports and validation documents for client distribution.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical development within the team.
• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

RINA is currently recruiting for a Rail System Engineering Lead to join its office in Abu Dhabi within theProject EngineeringDivision.

Mission

The System Project Engineering Lead is responsible for the successful technical execution of high-value and complex projects, focusing on maintaining the quality and compliance of all technical deliverables. This role is instrumental in integrating multidisciplinary technical contributions, ensuring that all project requirements are met according to safety and industry standards. The Project Engineer plays a key role within the project team, supervising technical implementation and collaborating closely with other engineers and subcontractors to deliver on client expectations.

Key Accountabilities

• Proposal Phase:
  • - Coordinate the technical assessment and feasibility for the proposal phase.
  • - Collect and integrate technical contributions to develop accurate proposals.
  • - Identify and quantify necessary skills, resources, and effort for proposal development.
• Technical Implementation:
  • - Ensure the technical delivery of projects meets content quality and respects project milestones.
  • - Oversee and manage all technical work related to project requirements.
  • - Monitor progress and make adjustments to technical plans to achieve project goals.
• Technical Team Coordination:
  • - Lead the project engineering team, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient execution.
  • - Collaborate with other engineers, technical teams, and subcontractors to maintain cohesive project execution.
  • - Coordinate with the Discipline Manager for resource adjustments and reassignments as needed.
• Quality Control:
  • - Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure technical compliance with project standards.
  • - Enforce quality assurance processes and proactively address any deviations from project specifications.
• Compliance and Safety:
  • - Ensure adherence to all technical regulations, compliance protocols, and safety standards.
  • - Address compliance and safety concerns promptly to prevent delays or risks, with support from the Discipline Leader.
• Technical Documentation and Reporting:
  • - Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • - Prepare or coordinate technical reports and presentations, validating accuracy before client distribution.
• Training and Mentorship:
  • - Provide on-the-job technical training and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • - Foster technical development within the team to ensure a high level of competence.
• Communication:
  • - Act as a bridge between technical teams, the Project Manager, and stakeholders to facilitate clear communication.
  • - Ensure technical issues are well-communicated and understood by all relevant parties.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • - Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement within technical project aspects.
  • - Apply lessons learned from past projects to enhance future technical performance.

Education

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

Qualifications

• -15+ years of experience in technical projects; 10-15 years of experience managing projects using established project management disciplines and methodologies.
• - Strong interdisciplinary background in System Engineering, RAM and Safety Assurance for large-scale railway and mobility infrastructure projects
• - Applies technical expertise in a broad field of knowledge for multiple applications and has demonstrated a full grasp of related disciplines.
• - Proficiency in quality control and assurance processes.
• - Understanding of System Engineer, i.e. designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems across various technical domains
• - Experience in RAMS activities
• - Knowledge of safety processes and system assurance
• - Ability to draft safety documentation and to develop risk assessment, hazard analyses, safety plans, and hazard logs
• - Knowledge of interface and integration management
• - Ability to provide technical support during integration and validation testing
• - Demonstrated ability to manage technical aspects of high-value and large-scale projects.
• - Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements specific to the project type (e.g., ISO, ANSI, IEC, depending on industry).
• - Strong analytical skills to evaluate technical challenges and provide effective solutions.
• - Ability to assess technical risks and proactively address issues before they impact project timelines.
