Job summary

RINA is recruiting for a Railway System Engineer (Interface Engineer) to join its Al Ain office within the Electronics and System Engineering Division. The role covers system design, requirements management, and integration across rolling stock, signaling, tracks, and infrastructure. You will lead V&V activities and lifecycle management for national and international projects.

The candidate should have a strong background in EN standards and experience with DOORS, MATLAB/Simulink, and EA tools.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in system engineering for railway projects.
  • Experience with Rolling Stock, Signaling, Electrification, and Track.
  • Strong requirements, interface, and configuration management.
  • Knowledge of standards: EN 50126/50128/50129 and ETCS/ERTMS.

Responsibilities

  • System design and architecture for railway projects.

RINA is currently recruiting for a Railway System Engineer (Interface Engineer) to join its office in Al Ain within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.

Mission

The Railway System Engineer is responsible for designing, integrating, and optimizing railway systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role involves system-level thinking, covering rolling stock, signaling, infrastructure, power supply, and communication systems.

The Railway System Engineer will join the RINA team as Interface Engineer in order to be part of national and international railway projects. His scope covers the entire lifecycle of railway projects, from concept to operation and maintenance. The successful candidate will have previous experience in requirements, interface and configuration management.

Key Accountabilities
  • System Design & Architecture
  • Defining and managing railway system requirements, system architecture, interaction between subsystems (rolling stock, signaling, tracks, power supply).
  • Selecting appropriate technologies and configurations for new rail projects.
  • System Integration
  • Ensuring interoperability between different railway subsystems, interfaces between rolling stock, signaling, and infrastructure.
  • Validating system compatibility across national and international railway networks (e.g., ERTMS, CBTC, PTC).
  • Performance Optimization
  • Enhancing railway system efficiency in terms of capacity, energy consumption, and operational reliability.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree

Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in system engineering for railway domain projects
  • Rolling Stock (Locomotives, EMUs, DMUs, High-Speed Trains)
  • Signaling Systems (ETCS, CBTC, PTC, Interlocking)
  • Electrification (25kV AC, 750V DC, 3kV DC systems)
  • Track Infrastructure (Standard gauge, High-Speed Rail, Light Rail, Metro)
  • Requirements and Configuration management.
  • Interface management between hardware, software, and infrastructure.
  • Managing mixed traffic operations (High-speed, freight, commuter trains).
  • CENELEC Standards: EN 50126 (RAMS), EN 50128 (Software), EN 50129 (Safety)
  • ETCS/ERTMS (European Train Control System)
  • IEC 62290 (Urban Rail Control Systems)
  • UIC, AAR, and FRA Regulations (for different railway regions)
  • Systems Engineering: DOORS, Enterprise Architect
  • Failure & Safety Analysis: ReliaSoft, FMECA, FTA Tools
  • Electrical & Mechanical Design: MATLAB, Simulink, CATIA
  • Working with V-Model, Agile, or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Managing large-scale railway system deployment projects.
