Job summary

talabat, part of the Delivery Hero network, is building a new domain from its Dubai Global Tech Hub to forecast demand, optimize stock movement and catch issues early. You will own end-to-end features in a cross-functional team and contribute to scalable software delivery.

The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, continuous discovery of business needs, and mentoring engineers to build a self-improving team while embracing lean/agile practices and high quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in XP environments.
• Proficient in testing with automated end-to-end quality.
• Experience in Distributed Systems Architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, RESTful).
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Experience with trunk-based development and continuous delivery.

About the team

talabat’s DMart network spans 860+ dark stores and 31 distribution centres across eight MENA markets. We are launching a new domain out of our Dubai Global Tech Hub to bring intelligence to how that network operates: predicting demand, optimising stock movement, and catching problems before they surface.

Role summary

• The systems that make that happen are yours to own. You will be embedded in a cross-functional team (engineering, product, data) working on this domain end-to-end: discovery, design, delivery, and what happens after it ships.
• Alongside your cross-functional team (engineering, product, data), participate in continuous discovery of your customer/business needs/desires/problems to drive desired outcomes
• Design, write and release software as a solution to an end-to-end problem in your business domain and deliver value in small batches in accordance with our engineering standards
• Understand scalability & complexity of your services and own & innovate the entire SDLC
• Mentor and inspire other engineers and continually optimize your team’s practices to develop it into a self-organized, continuously improving unit
• Critically question and simplify our tech org systems/processes and solutions

Note: On top of very good technical skills, this role requires someone willing to assume end-to-end ownership of a specific area/initiative and thrives on emphasizing with their us pains/desires/needs. You are keen to explore alternative ways of working that optimize for co-creation and continuous improvement.
