Job summary

Talabat is hiring a senior software engineer in Abu Dhabi to own an end-to-end domain within a cross-functional team. You will design, implement, and release software in small batches, following XP practices and focusing on scalable, maintainable architectures.

You will mentor engineers, optimize team practices, and collaborate with product and data to solve real customer problems while embracing lean and agile values and continuous feedback.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience; XP practices (TDD, pair programming, simple design, continuous refactoring).
• Proficient in .NET, Golang, and C#.
• Experience with testing and automated end-to-end quality.
• Experience with distributed systems architecture (microservices, event-driven, RESTful services).
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with trunk-based development and continuous delivery.

Responsibilities

About the opportunity

Role summary

• The systems that make that happen are yours to own. You will be embedded in a cross-functional team (engineering, product, data) working on this domain end-to-end: discovery, design, delivery, and what happens after it ships.
• Alongside your cross-functional team (engineering, product, data), participate in continuous discovery of your customer/business needs/desires/problems to drive desired outcomes
• Design, write and release software as a solution to an end-to-end problem in your business domain and deliver value in small batches in accordance with our engineering standards
• Understand scalability & complexity of your services and own & innovate the entire SDLC
• Mentor and inspire other engineers and continually optimize your team’s practices to develop it into a self-organized, continuously improving unit
• Critically question and simplify our tech org systems/processes and solutions

Note: On top of very good technical skills, this role requires someone willing to assume end-to-end ownership of a specific area/initiative and thrives on emphasizing with their us pains/desires/needs. You are keen to explore alternative ways of working that optimize for co-creation and continuous improvement.

What you need to be successful

• Experience in Distributed Systems Architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, and RESTful Services)
• Experience working with relational and nonrelational databases
• Exposed to cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
• Experience building, maintaining and improving with Trunk Based Development and ContinousDelivery

About the team

talabat’s DMart network spans 860+ dark stores and 31 distribution centres across eight MENA markets. We are launching a new domain out of our Dubai Global Tech Hub to bring intelligence to how that network operates: predicting demand, optimising stock movement, and catching problems before they surface.
