Job summary

Harmonic is seeking a senior software engineer to design and operate large-scale data pipelines that power our startup and investment data platform. You will own data quality, build new ingestion sources, and push towards dynamic, LL-powered workflows that drive product value.

You will collaborate across backend, databases, search, and APIs to deliver data-driven features for customers, with equity on offer and a hybrid, NYC-based work setup.

Qualifications

About The Team

This team sits at the epicenter of everything Harmonic builds. We ingest, reconcile, and continuously improve the data that underpins how we understand startups, people, and investors: funding activity, company data, and people data, three areas the business depends on more with every new market we enter. We're not just pipeline builders. When new data needs a home in the product, whether that's a new field in the console or an entirely new surface, this team builds it. Real ownership over both the data and the product it becomes: that's what makes this team exciting.

Who You Are

• You have 6+ years of experience as a software engineer and a track record of building data infrastructure at scale, ideally somewhere that was growing fast enough to break things.
• You have real product sense. You can reason about what data is actually worth extracting, how it should be structured and served, and how someone will use it once it's in front of them.
• You think in systems. You've designed data models, picked indexing strategies, and built serving paths that hold up under both load and a user's patience.
• You want to build product, not just plumbing. Shipping a feature should excite you as much as the infrastructure underneath it, and you think about the customer first, not the schema.
• You've spent real time wrangling raw, messy, real-world data into something structured and reliable, whether you came up through data engineering or full-stack.
• Bonus points if you've worked with LLM-powered extraction, search systems, or agentic workflows, or spent time around venture capital, private markets, or company intelligence data.

What You'll Do

• Architect and run the large-scale pipelines that power how Harmonic understands startups, people, and investments.
• Own our data quality bar (coverage, freshness, accuracy) and go find the new sources and ingestion techniques that raise it.
• Keep pushing our extraction and reconciliation work toward dynamic, LLM-powered agentic workflows, and build the evals that prove they're working.
• Work across the backend, databases, search indices, GraphQL APIs, to bring data to life in the product, and build new features or surfaces when the data calls for them.
• Partner with GTM, Product, Design, and other teams as we ship new data products for customers.

Compensation Range

$180K - $220K
