Role Context
The Senior Site Architect - Construction manages the interface between design intent and site execution. Responsibilities include monitoring materials, workmanship, documentation, client coordination, and contractor performance across major building projects. The role helps reduce rework, improve construction quality, and support successful project delivery in Dubai’s built environment sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee architectural works on construction sites to ensure approved design intent is correctly implemented.
- Monitor materials, finishes, workmanship, installation quality, and architectural detailing against project specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, consultants, project managers, and other technical teams to resolve design and construction issues.
- Review site activities for compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and project requirements.
- Identify architectural conflicts, site constraints, design deviations, and construction risks, then recommend practical corrective solutions.
- Prepare and present progress reports to clients, stakeholders, and project leadership highlighting issues, delays, changes, and proposed actions.
- Maintain detailed records of site activities, including daily logs, inspection reports, change orders, site instructions, and coordination notes.
- Support project administration for architectural works, including review of contractor progress, documentation, and compliance records.
- Liaise with clients to understand project expectations, address concerns, and maintain satisfaction throughout construction stages.
- Monitor contractor execution to ensure architectural components are delivered in line with approved plans and agreed quality benchmarks.
- Review site adjustments and proposed changes to assess their impact on design quality, functionality, compliance, and project delivery.
- Participate in site meetings, technical discussions, progress reviews, and coordination sessions with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support inspection of completed architectural works and assist in closing out comments before handover or project milestone acceptance.
- Ensure architectural supervision activities are properly documented and aligned with consultancy procedures and contract requirements.
- Promote safe working practices and support a disciplined site environment where quality, coordination, and compliance remain consistent.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or an equivalent discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of demonstrable experience in architectural supervision and project administration.
- Strong experience in large-scale projects within the Middle East consulting industry.
- Practical knowledge of site supervision, construction detailing, architectural finishes, quality control, and contractor coordination.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, design documents, building codes, and project requirements.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, engineers, clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong problem-solving ability with confidence to address site conflicts and recommend workable solutions.
- Skilled in preparing reports, inspection records, change documentation, daily logs, and stakeholder updates.
- Membership of a recognized professional institution such as PE, PEng, CEng, or similar is preferred.
- LEED GA or LEED AP certification would be an added advantage.
- Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills for managing architectural issues on active construction sites.
