Job summary

AESG is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to provide technical leadership and supervision across complex building and infrastructure projects in the UAE. You will act as the Engineer's Representative, overseeing multidisciplinary site teams and ensuring compliance with contract documents, designs and international best practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering is required.
• Master's Degree is advantageous.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng), PE or equivalent registration is preferred.
• Membership of a recognised professional institution is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site supervision team throughout the construction phase.
• Act as the primary technical representative between Client, Contractor, Authorities and Design Consultants.
• Ensure construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and contract requirements.
• Provide strategic direction and technical guidance to all site supervision personnel.
• Promote collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Monitor construction progress against the approved programme.
• Review contractor methodologies, work sequences and construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with project quality standards and technical specifications.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Review and recommend approval of contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements and material approvals.
• Administer construction contracts in accordance with project procedures.
• Review contractor claims, variations and extension of time submissions.
• Certify completed works and recommend interim payment certificates.
• Assist in dispute avoidance and contractual issue resolution.
• Maintain comprehensive project records and correspondence.
• Monitor HSE performance and ensure safety compliance across all activities.
• Chair project progress and technical coordination meetings.
• Maintain relationships with clients, contractors, authorities and consultants.
• Coordinate with government authorities regarding inspections, approvals and statutory requirements.
• Provide regular progress updates and executive reporting.
• Monitor programme progress and identify risks to schedules; support commercial teams in variations and cost implications.
