Senior Resident Engineer - Building Projects in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates is a senior Construction opportunity for an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience managing complex building developments, multidisciplinary site teams, contractor performance, quality assurance, project controls, and regulatory compliance. AECOM is hiring an experienced resident engineer to lead major construction activities, resolve technical and commercial challenges, supervise project delivery, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, UAE regulations, budgets, and schedules.
The Senior Resident Engineer will provide senior technical and operational leadership across large-scale building projects from construction mobilization through completion and handover. Acting as a central coordination point between clients, contractors, consultants, design teams, and project stakeholders, the role ensures construction decisions remain aligned with approved technical, contractual, commercial, and regulatory requirements. The position carries significant responsibility for site performance, quality, programme delivery, resource management, and issue resolution. Strong leadership will be required to keep multidisciplinary teams aligned, prevent technical disputes from delaying progress, and maintain clear accountability across project interfaces.

- Monitor construction progress and identify emerging delays, resource constraints, quality concerns, and coordination risks.
- Implement corrective strategies where project performance deviates from approved programme or quality requirements.
- Ensure construction activities comply with UAE building codes, local regulations, safety requirements, and environmental obligations.
- Oversee quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Review project budgets, resource allocation, and site requirements to support efficient use of personnel and equipment.
- Promote sustainable construction practices and support LEED-related requirements where applicable.
- Use BIM technology and construction management platforms to improve design coordination, visualization, issue tracking, and project control.
- Maintain oversight of site queries, technical clarifications, inspection records, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Prepare senior-level technical reports, progress presentations and project documentation for clients and management.
- Mentor junior engineers and site personnel, strengthening technical capability and professional development.
- Lead progress meetings and technical coordination sessions and ensure agreed actions are clearly assigned and monitored.
- Support testing, commissioning, project close-out, defect resolution, and hand over activities when projects approach completion.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor ’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and have at least 20 years of progressive professional experience in building engineering, construction supervision, and major project management. A proven record of successfully overseeing complex building developments in the Middle East is essential. Candidates should possess deep knowledge of UAE construction regulations, building codes, quality requirements, construction methodologies, contractor management, and site supervision practices. Advanced project management capability is required, including budget control, schedule optimization, resource planning, risk management, and coordination of multiple construction disciplines. Strong experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, technical documentation, and change orders is important. Candidates should also be comfortable using BIM technology, construction management software, digital project tracking systems. The preferred professional will combine decisive engineering judgment with strong leadership, technical writing, stakeholder management, and mentoring capability.
