Senior Resident Engineer - Building Projects in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates is a senior Construction opportunity for an accomplished engineering leader with extensive experience managing complex building developments, multidisciplinary site teams, contractor performance, quality assurance, project controls, and regulatory compliance. AECOM is hiring an experienced resident engineer to lead major construction activities, resolve technical and commercial challenges, supervise project delivery, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, UAE regulations, budgets, and schedules.
The Senior Resident Engineer will provide senior technical and operational leadership across large-scale building projects from construction mobilization through completion and handover. Acting as a central coordination point between clients, contractors, consultants, design teams, and project stakeholders, the role ensures construction decisions remain aligned with approved technical, contractual, commercial, and regulatory requirements. The position carries significant responsibility for site performance, quality, programme delivery, resource management, and issue resolution. Strong leadership will be required to keep multidisciplinary teams aligned, prevent technical disputes from delaying progress, and maintain clear accountability across project interfaces.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor ’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and have at least 20 years of progressive professional experience in building engineering, construction supervision, and major project management. A proven record of successfully overseeing complex building developments in the Middle East is essential. Candidates should possess deep knowledge of UAE construction regulations, building codes, quality requirements, construction methodologies, contractor management, and site supervision practices. Advanced project management capability is required, including budget control, schedule optimization, resource planning, risk management, and coordination of multiple construction disciplines. Strong experience reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, technical documentation, and change orders is important. Candidates should also be comfortable using BIM technology, construction management software, digital project tracking systems. The preferred professional will combine decisive engineering judgment with strong leadership, technical writing, stakeholder management, and mentoring capability. The role requires confidence operating in fast-moving project environments while maintaining close attention to quality, safety, programme performance, and contractual responsibilities.
